The 8.5 lens is very beautiful, and the shot is very delicate. Imamura's exaggerated expression makes Yamashita's experience mysterious and unreal. The presence of a few supporting characters also complicates the whole thing. When Yamashita biked to surrender, the dazed sluggishness without pedaling the whole way, the sudden discoloration of the streetlights after the murder, the interaction with eels and the association of dreams, Imamura made this movie come alive like Yamashita's last psychology.
