Later, I read Laomouzi A series of gorgeous pictures, piled up a large number of stars, kung fu movies to hit the Oscars, and after the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. I think more and more that Laomouzi is an extremely hardworking and ambitious person. However, in the movie "Return", Zhang Yimou stopped the big director's mountain-climbing trip and began to sit on the hillside, telling a good story. After watching it, I realized that the whole movie is about human nature. If you look at it with the attitude of watching a "war movie", you will be disappointed, because the explanation of the background of the times is very concise, and there is no vigorous criticism and reflection on the Cultural Revolution. After watching it, my friend said that it is a bit like another background korean drama. I thought about it a bit, it's a bit like, especially the amnesia part. But it's not like it, because the blank space is full of words. From the first scene of the movie, I knew Gong Li was back, and the stubborn one from Farewell Concubine and Qiu Ju's lawsuit was back. Feng Wanyu's eyes were full of drama when she appeared, although there was no pretense. But at a glance, she knew what she had experienced and what had happened to her lover Lu Yanshi. The background description of Lu Yanshi is concise enough. All the sufferings he suffered during the anti-rightist and Cultural Revolution have no positive shots, but just eating sweet potatoes under the overpass in the rain, we can experience a thing or two. Uncle Daoming said that this role was the least distanced from him, because his father was an intellectual like Lu Yanshi, so he chose a pair of glasses that were closest to his father's. When Lu Yanshi heard about David's death, his reaction was very indifferent, he just hummed, in the words of Uncle Daoming, because there were too many suicides in that era, he was numb to death. The other characters in this film, whether they are the street director, the people of the investigation team, or the master Fang who has never been seen, all show a kind of mediocre evil in obscurity. When Lu Yanshi took the spoon and wanted to take revenge on Master Fang, Master Fang's wife started talking there first. In my opinion, Lu Yanshi took back the spoon not because of embarrassment, but because of a sense of absurdity - the way to hurt others. Master, I am also hurt. In those days, no one could be "good" alone. Who should Lu Yanshi go to settle accounts? In fact, "Return" has a silent accusation. Maybe this accusation is not deep enough, because Zhang Yimouzhi is not here. This time, he is not so ambitious. As he mentioned in the interview, this time he gave up his gorgeous style and grand narrative. This restraint is a bit painful, but it is worth trying. This time, for love in an era, Zhang Yimou just chose love, and the era lets us taste it ourselves. This sets up obstacles for the audience. If you know enough about the anti-rightist and the Cultural Revolution, you may be able to see more flavors. If you just look at this movie, you will only see love if you don't pay attention. The story of "Return" is very clear and simple, and when I read it, it was a little detached. Always think of something other than the movie. If there was no anti-Rightist Cultural Revolution, Lu Yanshi and Feng Wanyu would not have been unable to see each other for 20 years. It's a bit of a drama, but things like this, in those days, were all over the place. Many women are never reunited with their husbands in their entire lives, and many women are forced to divorce their husbands because of class positions. I thought of Gu Zhun, an intellectual, who wrote a letter asking his wife to sever the relationship between husband and wife in order to protect the family. How much helplessness there is in this! If there was no anti-Rightist Cultural Revolution and no brainwashing, there would not be such a daughter who would rather harm her father in order to qualify as a main melody ballerina. The competition for female protagonists has always been fierce. It has been shown in "Black Swan", but it was in a specific environment. In China, the six parents did not recognize it, which is probably what a large number of young people did during the Cultural Revolution. After Gu Zhun was cut off from the father-son relationship by his children, he never blamed the children, even after Lu Yanshi was informed by the children. No one can blame them, and even if they do, the lost time will never come back. The intellectuals created by Chen Daoming are very universal. They are full of knowledge, but unable to change, they can only accept their fate, but they still have an indelible love for life. When Lu Yanshi read his letter to Feng Wanyu from the Great Northwest, it talked about the foal and the arrival of spring... I saw a kind of poetry here. Zhang Yimou did not show Lu Yanshi's suffering in this film, and many people asked if he consciously avoided the heavy topic? I don’t think so. A literary and artistic work does not need to carry so many things. Art is not miserable. Of course, the things mentioned in “Search|Find|Home|Garden” and “Clip|Edge|Ditch|Chronicle” cannot be forgotten, but we have no reason. Make such a request to Zhang Yimou. "Return" does not reach the level of "Farewell My Concubine". The latter is an epic of an era, with love, same-sex love, opposite-sex love, history of Peking Opera, Anti-Japanese War and Anti-Rightist Cultural Revolution... The content of every dimension Not weakened by the description of another dimension, on the contrary, it is indistinguishable and inseparable. Ups and downs, very complete. But is it because we are too harsh on Zhang Yimou, is it enough to tell a story about love? Human nature is eternal in art. Perhaps Zhang Yimou's story is not as rich as Yan Geling, or as profound and shocking as "Alive", but he has done a small thing, and this "small thing" shines.
