While watching the movie, unsurprisingly, I heard sobbing in the dark from time to time. The superb genius performance is naturally an important reason to conquer the audience. However, the source of the tears still makes me suspicious. Purely from the point of view of the film itself, the so-called "unparalleled love" in the publicity and hype came very suddenly, without any drama, such as foreshadowing, conflict, turning point, sublimation, etc., is it not surprising that such a relationship turned out to be so tearful? In fact, the first secret of "Return" is here. The director very cleverly intercepted the ending part of "Lu Criminal Yanshi", and completely ignored the main life experience of the protagonist. They are convinced that history has given people a pre-viewing understanding of the movie, and there is no need to talk about the character's mental journey. Indeed, the film presupposes the emotional orientation given to people today by special historical backgrounds such as "anti-Rightist" and "Cultural Revolution", that is, "Rightists" must be sympathetic and wronged "good people", and their troubled fate is destined to be a tragedy. Seed. The intense theatrical conflict in the first thirty minutes came to an abrupt end in the subtitle of "Three Years Later", and the film entered a slow rhythm. This variation, under the background of historical presuppositions, successfully broke people's psychological defense line, and it is reasonable to burst the embankment of tears.
Although the film plays star cards, most of them are cutscenes that play soy sauce. The real role of "Return" is a family of three. And these three characters have been given their own symbolic missions by the film. Lu Yanshi, "three years later", returned peacefully, with gray hair but high spirits. From him, we can't see the hardships and misery before. He said to his daughter, "It's over, it's over." The tone is calm, not humiliated. He is a person who has seen the direction of history clearly, and only his "amnesia" wife worries him. Lu Danjue (Dandan), who once reported her biological father to the organization, was kicked out by her mother and lost her ballet dream at the same time. She grew up, repented and matured from the dark and ignorant, and quickly adapted to the new era in the transition of history. It was only her "amnesia" mother who worried her. Feng Wanyu, her traumatic amnesia left her returning wife at a loss. She stubbornly allowed herself to fall into the black magic of history, forever staying in the absurd "Number Five", like Sisyphus who pushed a stone in vain in ancient Greek mythology, sticking to the meaning of existence in meaninglessness. She is a stopper in history, waiting in masochism for the "Godot" that can never be reached. Three characters, I deciphered three attitudes towards history, and thought this was the second secret of "Return". The film has tried to use light to reveal this secret many times. When Lu Yanshi was reading a letter for Feng Wanyu, a soft light always hit the former's face, warm and bright. As for the latter, most of the time her back is to the light. She can't read the sunlight on her lover's face because she has buried herself in the dark for too long. And in the touching hug and staring at the piano accompaniment of "Fisher Light", the sun blew on the faces of the two of them, making us almost cheer. But unfortunately, it was just a moment of ecstasy.
The double secrecy allowed me to see the cramps and difficulties of "Return" under the cover of many emotions: how should we view our history? Are we Lu Yanshi or Feng Wanyu? Sadly, the latter seems to resonate more. In the face of those years, most people are more willing to lick their own or other people's wounds, and at the same time dig up and collect those damaged and tired old letters, so as to express their anger and dissatisfaction. However, these kind people have ever thought that you can't get rid of the heavy memory, after all, you can only be a patient who can have a sense of existence in "amnesia"!
