When the Cultural Revolution ended and Lu Yanshi came back, his wife had already suffered from amnesia and could not enter the house. Lu Yanshi tried a lot of methods but couldn't cure his wife Feng Wanyu's illness, and her condition was getting worse day by day. Lu Yanshi designed her daughter to return to Feng Wanyu, so that the mother and daughter could take care of her. The old couple had to live in two separate households, taking care of each other. Every day that his wife thought it was the 5th, Lu Yanshi used a tricycle to take Feng Wanyu to the train station, helped Feng Wanyu hold a sign with the three characters Lu Yanshi, stood at the exit of the train station, and waited for Lu Yanshi to ride The train from Qinghai returned, and the gate was closed until all the passengers on the train left the station. This is Zhang Yimou's adaptation of the last 30 pages of Yan Geling's novel "Lu Yanshi". The superb acting skills of Chen Daoming and Gong Li have added too much brilliance to the director's work. The young actress Zhang Huiwen, who was filming for the first time, also performed well. The story grabbed my heart from the very beginning and couldn't get away from it until the end. The film is so refined that there is almost no extraneous footage. The background of the story, the deep feelings between the characters and all their sufferings in the past 20 years can be clearly explained by simple dialogues or expressions. Maybe it's the reason I've been through this history, the story of what happened to the protagonist gripped my heart.
