In a small town on the coast of the United States in the 1950s, a shy Coast Guard member and a beautiful girl with classical temperament finally met after a long phone call. The beginning of the film doesn't look like a disaster film at all, but it just hits my aesthetic.
The plot of the film is actually a very ordinary disaster film, which is adapted from a real story and gives it a sense of reality like a documentary. There are no big action scenes, no personal heroism, only two crews fighting against the huge waves. The part about sea storms is very substituting and makes people breathless. The insignificance of people in front of the sea is unobstructed, but it is also true that the actions of the four rescue team members are extremely great.
The story has no preaching meaning, it tells a simple and moving story very purely. As the actor said in an interview, such a movie does not seem to be a movie of this era, but rather like a typical industrialized film and television work of the last century. Even so, the actors are still attracted by such a real story, and are willing to use their performances to restore the actions of these mortal heroes for people. This is the honor of the actor, and it is also our honor to have such an actor.
Sometimes movies really don’t need to work hard on shooting techniques, ponder deep philosophical issues, or expose and discuss social phenomena; in the world we live in, there are touching and true stories happening at all times. The story is shown in a movie style, which is enough to attract people. Some people say that the line of love appears redundant in the movie. I think it is this dark line of the hero and the heroine, which adds a touch of tenderness and romance to the thrilling main line of rescue. This kind of sentiment is matched with the background of that era, and it is more retro Charm.
When it comes to Chris Pine, most of the audience knows about his "Star Trek." Through the craze of super-British movies, his role as Steve in the "Wonder Woman" series is also widely known. I watched "Going Through Water and Fire" two years ago, and watched his "Outside the Law" last year, and this year's "Raging Sea Rescue". This movie has been lying in my library of more than 300 movies for a few years. I think of it these days because I suddenly wanted to watch rival dramas like Pai and Benfu’s "Going Through Fire" and "Wonder Woman 1984". "After watching the film, I once again became interested in Pai's works. I also look forward to him having more similar realistic works in the future.
