Another story about growing up, about those cruelty, helplessness, and hope. I don't know why Kitano Takeshi asked Masanobu Ando, who was a little thin and so innocent, to play the boxing genius Shinji. Perhaps, it was just to describe the cruelty of life to some extreme. The film seems to depict a lot of irrelevant scenes. I personally think that it is the charm of the film. You will see hesitation and hope in some small actions and expressions. A mature personality - even if this kind of maturity is like the cafe woman in the film who married the weak husband who died in a car accident, in the face of the pursuit of customers, she no longer has the youthful youth and passion, but just carelessly. Smoking a cigarette alone after refusing - very helpless, very sad.
The freedom of youth and the rules of the world, beautiful dreams and violent boxing - growing up is such a cruel thing, perhaps. Xinzhi and Xiaoma are actually just two children who have lost themselves to a certain extent, bullying their classmates, skipping classes, and teasing their teachers, just to fill their pale youth. The teacher scolded them as idiots, and most of the classmates were afraid of them, as if the whole world had abandoned them. Their rebellion is so abandoned, and it seems that they have abandoned the world. Xiaoma cares so much about Xinzhi, even after becoming a big brother; and Xinzhi, who seems to be weak, can take a decisive blow in the trouble of his classmates after Xiaoma is no longer. These are the bad boys who are useless, but in them, we clearly feel a gentle power. Xinzhi has been following the pony, helping to watch the wind when he bullies his classmates, and being forced by him to learn boxing together, perhaps the weakness and loneliness in his heart can only be stabilized by following the pony with publicity. When Xiao Ma "completed" Xinzhi and left without saying goodbye to his big brother's dream, he deeply felt Xinzhi's confusion and at a loss, and in his ignorance he thought it was betrayal.
Everyone's life seems to be always helpless. The woman in the cafe was depleted of her passion and youth by her weak husband, who had always endured running and suffering for a living, and finally died in a car accident while driving a taxi. After Xiaoma left, Xinzhi practiced boxing harder and became an emerging boxing champion, but under the decadent guidance of Xiaolin, his dream was shattered. The pony's underworld career also died cruelly in his youth and eagerness to "success". "When you become the champion and I become the boss, let's meet again!" Once upon a time, we all believed that these were not far futures. And life is so cruel, crushing those young dreams over and over again, and then spreading them out in front of you. Sigh. Those freedoms and longings have been polished by time to lose their angularity and luster. There are only a few scenes of the story in the movie repeatedly, and everything seems to imply a kind of fate. No matter how rebellious, hopeful, and hard you are, you cannot escape the predetermined ending.
The comforting thing is that the movie finally gave us a happy ending, at least hopeful. The pair of brothers who have always dreamed of cross talk was finally recognized by everyone after the low point. Xinji and Xiaoma finally returned to the school playground, looking for the breath of the past, they smiled so brightly, so innocently - we know, they are not numb to the world...
"Are we finished?"
"Idiot, Haven't started yet?"
