Youth is a complex proposition. It can be so abstract that you can hardly find adjectives to accurately summarize it, or it can be very concrete, so that you have a series of memories of growing up. The film shows from multiple perspectives the different effects of youth as a choice that happens to different people.
During the viewing process, I kept thinking of Jiang Wen's "Sunny Day", which also shows the hesitation and struggle of youth, but the perspectives of the two films are completely different. "Sunny Day" is more about expressing the environment's influence on growth. Influence, and "Bad Boy's Sky" is a helpless growth choice.
The ending of "Sunny Days" did not get rid of the sadness and nostalgia, but the ending of "Bad Boy's Sky" is the intersection of loss and longing. Relatively speaking, I prefer the ending of "Bad Boy's Sky". , after the failure of the struggle, the two protagonists rode their bicycles back to the high school campus. At this time, Xinzhi asked the pony: "Is our life over?" The pony replied: "Idiot, it hasn't started yet." I think this scene is the essence of the film, youth will eventually pass away, but growth will always be accompanied by survival!
Hisaishi's soundtrack is quite brilliant. Under the overall melancholy temperament of the film, the brisk melody and rhythm are not abrupt at all, but more in line with the film's theme of youth.
