hard times

The more I watch this film, the more my heart sinks. It seems to be about a young man's way home, but it uses two intersecting parallel lines to show the fate of three generations of a family under power politics. Although such a story happened in distant Bulgaria, it feels both familiar and unfamiliar, like the grandmother who bought sugar in a different way in an era of food shortages, even if she was scolded, who has never heard of such a story? I watched the video and couldn't say anything. Not only lamenting the three generations of grandparents in the film, but also feeling his grandfather and father. I like the scene at the end of the film when the grandparents and grandchildren are playing chess. The time is reversed in the slow motion. When the two are playing chess, the camera rotates 360 degrees, and the expressions of the two are constantly changing, which is really beautiful.

Bai Dan: Sashe, Sashe... Have a good look. It's me, your Grandpa! I came from home. Remember? I taught you to play backgammon. You remember the song? Backgammon's played by those who can / Backgammon's played by those who can't, too.
