This is Diao Yinan's new work after many years after "Fireworks in the White Sun". First, I personally admire his art very much, but unfortunately his works are really too few, even if every one of them is a masterpiece.
The overall style of this film is unique among domestic films, especially the atmosphere creation and the use of light, which perfectly fits the story told in the film, making the viewers completely immersed in that chaotic and unpredictable town. However, some of the so-called "film noir" indispensable elements that appear intensively in the film are really rare in domestic films. The director's special design of several murder scenes makes people suffer from both visual and spiritual. Not a small shock, most of the actors are old acquaintances of Diao Yinan. Huang Jue performed well in the scene where Gui Lunmei was killed by X, and Hu Ge also successfully proved his ability. In this jungle hunted by multiple heads, there is no pure right and wrong. There is no distinction between good and evil, and there is no distinction between good and bad. In this hustle and bustle, there is a big drama of human nature.
