Because I watched the previous trilogy many years ago, I had a good impression, so I had high expectations, but the results were not very satisfactory.
I haven't seen the original work, and I haven't seen the adapted animation. I watched it as the original.
First of all, the plot is very old-fashioned, and I personally feel that there is no bright spot. Since the story doesn't work, let's look at the visuals.
But the vision is not very satisfactory. I don't know if it's because I didn't watch it on the big screen before, so I didn't see it so closely, or because of other reasons, I feel that some details that were not there before are very prominent this time.
For example, the hair of an actor, the wig feels very heavy, especially the long black hair, which is not close to the scalp. It feels like there is no headgear but only a wig, and the movement trajectory of the hair is very unnatural when it is vigorously moved.
For example, I really don't like to show the intensity of fights through overly exaggerated and illogical scene destruction. According to my understanding, this world view should be purely martial arts, without any internal strength or physical enhancement settings. That one kicking a row of handrails and punching a wooden wall with one punch is very illogical. The most outrageous thing is that in the final battle, one knife slashed on the eaves and the entire pavilion collapsed? ? ? The action design of the martial arts itself is already very good-looking, and there is really no need to forcefully increase the damage.
Furthermore, I don't know if the setting of the wanderer is like this, but I think the male protagonist's "obscene neck" demeanor is really ugly, and then coupled with the possible reason for the hair, the neck is particularly ugly when the side profile is close-up.
Maybe the expectations were too high. I seldom watch Japanese real movies, and this is the first time I have watched real movies in a movie theater in the four years since I came to Japan. Moreover, because of the declaration of emergency, Tokyo cinemas were closed for a whole month, but now I bought tickets as soon as the ban was lifted, which raised my expectations in disguise.
In general, it's still okay. The martial arts design is indeed as good as ever. The reunion of the original team after so many years is still very original. I also like photography very much.
But I probably won't watch The Beginning, which will be released the day after tomorrow.
