"Young Marx" is a biographical film directed by Raoul Peck. The film tells the story of a young Marx who met Engels in Paris in 1844. Because of their common ideals and beliefs, they are committed to completely changing the world. Later, the two co-authored the great journey of the Communist Manifesto. As a biographical film, the ending of the story is known to everyone, but this film truly presents the well-known story to people in terms of details, character depiction, etc. We can experience Marx and Engels from it. Their passionate pursuit at that time and the arduous process of the birth of the Communist Manifesto.
1. Narrative of the movie content: The movie opens with a group of poor people picking dead wood in the woods to make a living, based on the "Debate on the Forest Theft Law", accompanied by a narration: "To get fresh wood, you have to force the branches out of the tree. Demolition. But gathering dead branches is not the case, you don't have to steal anything from the property, it has fallen off the tree, it's something that comes out of the property. But despite the essential difference between the two, both are classified as Theft, and the same punishment," and they were chased and killed by horse-riding officers, and the opening uses a simple example to draw us deeply into the social context of the time. Later, when Marx and Engels met in Paris, they had completely different backgrounds, but shared the same ideas. As the saying goes, "friends are easy to make, but confidants are hard to find". This was the case with Engels and Marx, and Marx's wife, Jenny, was an indispensable and important support force on his hard journey. Marx's statement to Engels that "the philosophers in the past have only explained the world, but the problem is to change the world" reflects his ultimate goal, and it also shocked me. The greatness of Marxism is inseparable from his advanced thinking and the unremitting efforts of him and the people around him. He not only has the courage to change the world, but also the courage to fight for it. At the end of the story, the Justice League was renamed the "Communist League", the "Communist Manifesto" was born, and then the revolution broke out in 1848, and the film ended. "Young Marx" shows the audience different from the image of Marx who is aloof, great and holy in books. Marx in the film has the vigor and vitality unique to young people. He dares to imagine, dare to refute, and dare to struggle; he focuses on lofty ideals at the same time Humor and calm. The 30-year-old Marx said to Engels by the sea: I am tired, but I have not stopped fighting for the liberation of mankind, the overthrow of the old world and the establishment of a new world for a second. Yes, Marx, he is a man of flesh and blood, the revolutionary teacher of the world proletariat, Marx, since his youth, science-revolutionary truth has attracted all his energy, and has always led him to the struggle for the liberation of the working class. In the ranks, the tenacious and unremitting struggle for the philosophical pursuit of the revolution leads to the struggle for the liberation of the working class. At the end of the film, we can see at a glance the struggle of Marx for the rest of his life.
2. The film expression technique: The overall tone of the film is darker, which makes the audience more experience the social turmoil and the poverty of the workers at that time. Finally, after the birth of the "Communist League", the Marx family and Engels went to relax at the seaside, the atmosphere was brisk, and the bright sea gave people a feeling of seeing the light at last. The actors of the film are composed of different countries (the Soviet Union, the GDR, Bulgaria, Poland, Czechoslovakia), and the switching of the language of communication in the film is also very close to the story itself: intellectuals use French in public discussions, and there are many French in letters, Marx and Engels German is used in private communication, and English is used in communication with British workers. The high sense of artistic responsibility of all the actors makes every image on the screen real and believable. 3. Comprehension: The revolutionary enthusiasm for science and the fighting spirit of practice shown in "Young Marx" enlighten us that in order to train ourselves into a real communist, we must completely reform our world outlook while learning the theory , with a firm proletarian stand, deep affection for the working people and love for the socialist cause. As young people, we must keep up with the times, shoulder the mission, forge ahead with determination, and closely link our own future and destiny with the future and destiny of the country and the nation. Continue Marx's passion and let ordinary people create extraordinary lives.
