Human beings, a high-level intelligent race, are involved in war and are slaughtered like pigs and dogs. What kind of huge waste is this?
War is a continuation of politics. As "Iron Rain" said, the Korean War is a typical proxy war in the context of the Cold War after World War II, and it is an ideological killing battlefield. But because of the emergence of nuclear bombs, the big guys—— The Soviet Union, the United States, and China have not officially declared war on each other. There are many powerful countries around the Korean peninsula, and a civil war has turned into a small world war in an instant, with more than 20 countries participating in the war and providing material assistance.
Do soldiers fight for their country, or do they fight for ideology? Or fight for the elites at the top? Soldiers fight only to protect their wives and children, and only to protect their hometown from being slaughtered. All other reasons are just a continuation of the economic and political struggle after the failure.
