Jia Zhangke

Starting from a good man in the Three Gorges, I watched all his films.

Jia is a bit like Fellini, especially the old Fei's early realist films; and Jia also has a set of fixed team,
the young thief Xiaowu wearing black-rimmed glasses, the dull cousin, and There is that little peach, who is a bit coquettish and pungent,
and their shadows can always be seen in every movie from the platform. Although the characters are very different, there is always something at the root that
makes people feel nostalgic. And the biggest advantage of this kind of small circle of actors is that no matter what the film is, there is always a special
intimacy to watch.

The two I highly recommend are "The Good Man of the Three Gorges" and "The Good Man of Ren Xiaoyao". I watched it in California. When I was looking

for a scoop to play, I saved some films on the computer.
There is a "Three Gorges Good Man". I heard that I won the Golden Lion Award before watching it, but it seems that the Venice
Film Festival has begun to accept Hollywood and try to market it in the past two years, so I don't have high expectations. But after watching it, I think this
movie is very good. How should I put it, this film is definitely a film like "Yellow Earth" for people to
see, unlike Zhang Yimou's film for the judges. And the director never feels condescending, but the whole film is like a documentary
. The lens is clean and slow, just like the water of the Yangtze River after the completion of the Three Gorges Dam. In contrast, even
works like "Red Sorghum" always have a showy feeling like a folk museum in tourist attractions.

However, what makes this film higher than high-end documentaries and even Italian realism is that Jia Zhangke is very aura. Several scenes in the film are
very surreal, such as someone walking a tightrope between the buildings to be demolished, and the ruins are suddenly
launched into the sky like a rocket. For a while, I couldn't tell the truth, but the most important thing is to make the whole film come alive, otherwise it will really be a
documentary.

"Ren Xiaoyao" was also later watched in the United States. I love this movie, but I can't tell what's good about it. All I can say is that this
film is very real. Not only does it mean that there is no falsification in the story shots, but also that the whole film is very sincere.
When I was a child, I grew up in a small town in Henan , and my friends around me were a little bit of a scoundrel. But at that time, I could only be envious of them
. I remember going to the Palace of Culture with them to go roller skating a few times. The feeling is
similar . In fact, life is like this, even if you can let go of the waves, you will always be trapped and unable to move.
Zhao Xiaotao (I really don't remember the actor's real name) plays a coquettish dancer in it, which always reminds me
of a classmate in junior high school. Back then, she was considered a beauty in our grade, and there were still many boys fighting for her outside of high school. Later, when I looked at the
photos of the class reunion, she wore a pink down jacket, with only one line left on her eyebrows, and made up like a shampoo girl. Completely
lost the spirit of the year. Another handsome gangster who looked just like Lin Zhiying back then is also repairing water pipes in the water company, and
laments that the salary is too low. Seeing them now, I don't know whether to feel that their youth is short, or to praise them for finally
integrating into this society.

In fact, Jia's other films, "Platform" and "World", are also very good. Today's directors either make films
for the Oscar judges, or they pretend to be second-guessed. I despise those who make blockbuster films, and I also agree that when a director makes a film, he has
to make it for himself first. But I'm more disgusted with a group of film school
graduates , they always remind me of the scene in the Annie Baby novel holding Haagen-Dazs ice cream and crying in the taxi
, too much. Art is not pretending to be second-hand, nor is it pretending to be earthy, nor is it pretending to be elegant. What is art, Jia Zhangke is art
. His truth is better than everything.

I personally hope that in another ten or twenty years, Jia can fully embark on the path of surrealism. (Okay, I admit that I like
Fellini , and I really hope to see him have a successor), and then we also make decadent and lewd films, so that foreigners always think that Chinese
people can't play. It is best to find a royal male star with temperament, so that Chinese actors can also be proud of themselves. (Xiao Wu is really
not my type). Maybe you can make a "Love in Nanjing", which makes the Japanese feel guilty when they see it. But
Jia Zhangke always surprises people. But as long as he is there, as long as Lou Ye is there, there are always movies to watch.
