For a long time after watching the first time, I couldn't watch other films. It seemed that there was always a little space in my mind to store the film of "The Good Man of the Three Gorges". I closed my eyes, and the episodes came back again. It became clear in meditation. So, I have this understanding of the two surreal pictures:
The first is the film about a woman who came to the Three Gorges Reservoir area to find her husband who hadn't returned home for two years. One dawn, a dilapidated building suddenly lifted off like a rocket, leaving no trace. Does the director want to metaphorize the change of heart? The strong building-like feelings of the year will gradually erode and become dilapidated, and then disappear with a "swoosh" unknowingly. Did that woman come to her change-hearted husband because she missed it? After seeing it, I realized that the woman had also changed her mind. She had another man and came to her husband to settle the formalities. What caused this change? Residents on both sides of the Three Gorges have left their hometowns because of the Three Gorges Project, and start a new life in another world. Their homes, like the buildings that fly straight into the sky, will be completely submerged by the river and disappear, but this is after all a foreign object. , it would be like a complete betrayal between people.
The second is at the end of the film, a Shanxi man who came to the Three Gorges Reservoir area to find his wife for more than ten years, led a group of workers who demolished houses in the Reservoir area to leave the Reservoir area. Early in the morning, the Shanxi man left with his bag on his back, and turned his head to see a man slipping away on a tightrope in the sky. What's the implication here? It seems to be a metaphor for this group of men who are going to Shanxi coal mines to make money. Life was hanging by a thread, but they silently chose this dangerous road. They each have their own aspirations. If they don't go down the coal well, this wish is just an illusion for the rest of their lives. If they go down and come out alive, there is at least a half chance of being able to come out. Maybe they can really realize this wish. They played such a simple game in their hearts, and finally set foot on the tightrope-like road. Those workers who died in the mine accident, we say they are pitiful, but putting aside all responsibility, system, and corruption, the courage to walk down the mine like this is admirable. Those of us who have nothing to do with food and clothing, we always have our promises and blame others in the face of life, but what about them? In the face of the unfathomable unknown darkness, we still move forward bravely and never turn back. Who is the poorest person in the world? It is those people who enjoy a bright and comfortable life but still feel sorry for themselves all day long. They have no courage to face life!
I can't describe the impact this movie brought to me one by one, there are too many things to say, but sometimes I think that what I understand may not be the original intention of the director, but it doesn't matter, this is probably the charm of the movie!
I met Jia Zhangke once from a distance. At that time, I really didn’t understand Xiao Wu and Platform, but I only felt that this person was special. I heard him say that after watching "The Yellow Earth" in a small theater in his hometown, he decided to make a movie, and then he really came to the present step by step. There are no gorgeous sets or big-name movie stars in his movies, but those who are the most simple and real The lens is the source that gives us the most moving and thinking.
