A German's humanity in the Anti-Japanese War shines, a hero who should be remembered

Do not forget the war, history is worth remembering by everyone, and heroes are worth being praised by everyone!

Johann Rabe, German, after the Japanese occupation of Nanjing. He tried his best to deal with the Japanese army, established an international safe zone, and saved the lives of about 200,000 people in the country.

In 2009, the Sino-German cooperation "Rabe Diary" brought this history to the big screen, allowing many people to recognize the hero who once helped China.

Rabe, head of Siemens Nanjing, Germany. He stayed in China for 27 years and made great contributions to the development of Siemens and China.

He was informed by the head office that he was about to leave China.

He has a hobby and likes to write a diary, in which he records what he sees and feels.

Rabe would never have imagined that his diary would later become an important document recording the ugly actions of the Japanese army in the war of aggression against China.

When preparing to leave, the Japanese army launched an air raid on Nanjing, and Nanjing was devastated.

Facing the fleeing people, Rabe commanded to open the factory gate. Under the shelter of the Nazi flag, the Japanese planes flew away.

Rabe actually has feelings for the people of Nanjing. He spends most of his life, and his best years are staying in Nanjing. Seeing the suffering of the Nanjing people, how could he have the heart to leave?

Rabe, the doctor Wilson, the diplomat Rosen, the principal of the girls' school, Du Prey, etc., discussed the establishment of a "Nanjing International Safety Zone" to protect the people of Nanjing.

Negotiating with the Japanese is like a devil, but Rabe and others are not afraid of evil forces.

At that time, Japan signed a cooperation agreement with Germany, coupled with the suppression of international public opinion, the Japanese army agreed to establish a safe zone.

Originally, Rabe and Dr. Wilson were at odds, but in the face of responsibility, the two worked together and gradually became good friends.

The establishment of the safety zone accommodates nearly 200,000 Nanjing people. Rabe and others tried their best to provide the operation of the safe zone, and even Rabe dedicated all his belongings to the safe zone.

The dedication and compassion of Mr. Rabe is worthy of praise.

Across nationalities and ethnicities, it can take the initiative to take responsibility when the Chinese people are in danger.

Compared with many traitors and lackeys, the Chinese nation has raised them, but they have to suffer their devastation. Rabe's act of righteousness should make them feel ashamed.

I especially like the relationship between Mr. Rabe and his wife Dora. Even at the age of knowing destiny, they are still in love.

In order to protect his wife, Rabe sent her away. But the ship was attacked by Japanese planes, fortunately, God pity good people. Dora did not die, and the couple finally reunited when Rabe returned from his mission in the safe zone.

In the film, Zhang Jingchu played Lan Shu, a female student who loves photography, and there was also a scene where he was violated by the Japanese army. Fortunately, in the film, his younger brother shot in time to keep his virginity.

Although there are not many scenes of Lan Shu in the film, the scene where he kills the Japanese army and escapes is very exciting. In the end, the whole class of girls naked to cover her and let the Japanese army check the scene is also very shocking.

Some people will think that this film is to beautify the image of the alien savior, but I don't think it should be understood that way. Because Mr. Rabe has indeed made a contribution to the Chinese nation. Shouldn't such people be celebrated? Through the film, show the distant history, alert and educate people, and transmit positive energy.

In fact, in history, Rabe's life was not good when he returned to Germany. Because of the crime of exposing the Nanjing Massacre in Japan, he was isolated and even hunted down by the Nazis. After that, Germany was defeated, and because the Nazis were embarrassed by the Allies, life was embarrassing. When the people of Nanjing knew about it, they raised funds to rescue Rabe. But soon died of illness.

This history is worth remembering!

Watching the 2007 documentary "Nanking Nanking", the content about "John Rabe" reminded me of this "Rabe's Diary" that I knew many years ago but I haven't watched it in full, so I decided to continue to watch the movie: Nanjing University During the massacre, more than 200,000 people survived because of the protection of the safe zone. Nevertheless, the number of victims is staggering. Statistics show that at least 300,000 Chinese people have been killed. The Japanese government has not officially assumed responsibility for the Nanjing Massacre. After returning to Germany, John Rabe was arrested by the Gestapo as a Chinese spy. He was forbidden to tell about his experience in Nanjing. His diary was confiscated and only reappeared sixty years later. After the war, the Allies refused to show him a non-Nazi certificate at first. In 1950, Rabe died in Berlin in poverty and forgotten.

The filming is not good, Zhang Jingchu's period is too much, but it is still five stars for Rabe's personal charm. When you can't choose your situation, background, and encounters, you can at least choose your attitude. The details of a group of Nazi parties eating bread and Nazi flags to shield refugees against the portrait of the British king are great. There are always people who do angelic things in the name of the devil.

John Rabe quotes

  • Dr. Robert Wilson: I don't like Nazis.

Valérie Dupres: He isn't a Nazi.

Dr. Robert Wilson: Yes he is.

Valérie Dupres: He's just a member of the party.

Dr. Robert Wilson: Which makes him a Nazi.

Valérie Dupres: Are you a member of the church?

Dr. Robert Wilson: Yeah, so what?

Valérie Dupres: What do you think of witch burning?

Dr. Robert Wilson: Ah, well, looking at you, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea.

  • Dr. Lewis Smythe: This is a war, not a dancing class. We can't save everyone.
