Rather disappointed, "recommended" out of respect

The review gave "recommendation" out of my respect for the era, for those who had compassion, and for those who remember what happened to those people. There's nothing wrong with the film itself, but nothing special either.
Since it is Rabe's diary, why not respect the original book as much as possible, and even add that inexplicable relationship, even if we can accept that relationship, but how can we downplay Rabe's activities in those days? The carrier of diary is not well grasped. Very general.

PS Moreover, for many key plots, key character relationships, and key ideas, there is no performance at all!

John Rabe quotes

John Rabe: He didn't stay in the car? His head was cut off!

Colonel Nakajima Kesago: It was an honorable death. A contest between two officers. Very popular in Japan.

    John Rabe: What contest?

Colonel Nakajima Kesago: Who decapitates the most enemies.

  • John Rabe: To the Führer of the German people. Chancellor Adolf Hitler. My Führer. As a loyal party member and upstanding German. I turn to you in a time of great need. The Japanese Imperial troops conquered the city of Nanking on December 12, 1937. Since then I have witnessed atrocious crimes against civilians. Please help to end this catastrophe and make an appeal to our Japanese allies in the name of humanity. With a German salute.
