Not compared to other movies but

I watched the German version, but I don’t know what the difference is with the English version. The investment in the film is not big at first glance. Ok, it is a film written by people. We will first give a brief description of the background of the war in the film.
The characters are thin, and the explanations of many behavioral motives are far-fetched, which cannot make the audience feel a sense of identity. Coupled with the image of the Chinese inside, I feel that this German has worked hard for a long time to save a group of uncivilized people. He is really a saint from capitalism, and he has humanitarian compassion and kindness towards these Chinese people.
After seeing this film, I felt that it had nothing to do with us Chinese people. We were all in trouble, and we had to thank the Japanese, (the Japanese had to find such an officer to show their humanity), and thank the Germans.
I don't know if the words are too heavy, but I just feel that the screenwriter and director seem to be in a hurry, not thinking carefully, scrutinizing the plot (yes, standing and talking doesn't hurt your back).
The Chinese were killed, and some scenes were simply imitated from some existing documentaries, but the expressiveness was much worse than that of the documentaries, and it did not make people feel that the massacre shocked his soul. It was only shown in his pale face. Physical condition deteriorates.
It seems that because Huayi has also invested, Zhang Jingchu has to have more dramas, and she has a pure love.
I can't applaud, only disappointed.
After watching Zhang Chunru's documentary, I feel that the film lacks sincerity and the character Herr Rabe is not convincing. Maybe reading is better.

John Rabe: He didn't stay in the car? His head was cut off!

Colonel Nakajima Kesago: It was an honorable death. A contest between two officers. Very popular in Japan.

    John Rabe: What contest?

Colonel Nakajima Kesago: Who decapitates the most enemies.

  • John Rabe: To the Führer of the German people. Chancellor Adolf Hitler. My Führer. As a loyal party member and upstanding German. I turn to you in a time of great need. The Japanese Imperial troops conquered the city of Nanking on December 12, 1937. Since then I have witnessed atrocious crimes against civilians. Please help to end this catastrophe and make an appeal to our Japanese allies in the name of humanity. With a German salute.
