One is Tomo, a boy with a background of exodus, and the other is Marek, a boy whose family is not so complete. A chance encounter makes each other's lives warmer.
"Sumers Town" tells an ordinary story, but it is unexpectedly moving.
For Tomo, the film doesn't explain much about his background, we only know that his background left his hometown to a strange city, maybe he ran away from home, or maybe his family, as he joked later, were gone. And Marek, a child of an ordinary single-parent family, his father either went out to work or was drunk with friends, and he rarely had time to be alone with his father. According to common sense, it should be very sad to set the tone of the story for such a character, but on the contrary, this movie is extraordinarily heart-warming and healing.
An interesting soul lives in the lonely heart. This movie is exactly that. Some people seem to be alone, but in fact they are only afraid that they will hurt themselves if they are close. Fortunately, lonely and interesting souls are attracted to each other. When Tomo met Marek, it was like giving each other a harbor to live in. The two who looked out of tune became good friends.
"Every town has a story of its own. It might be about you being a kid, it might be about your upbringing, it might just be about the weather in the city."
A large part of the black-and-white shots in the front are in line with the confused and directionless youth of the two boys, but the soundtrack of the film makes the original monotonous colors warm. There is no chaotic picture of most youth films, there are only delicate and warm picture composition.
Maybe it doesn't matter which city you choose to live in. What matters is whether there is someone in this city you can rely on, whether it's a friend or a lover.
In the end, the picture of the movie changed from black and white to color. Maybe reconciling with life and letting others walk into your heart will make the journey of life much easier.
I really like the soundtrack in the movie, it has a British warmth.
