The Korean film Assassination, turned the theme to World War II spies and assassins. The story presented in the text of the film: three selected assassins, two gangsters who are famous in the assassination world, a traitor who defected in the independence revolution, and the intricate assassination and anti-assassination activities among the three small groups.
The story is better than the tight plot. The 140-minute plot is full of competitions of wisdom, intelligence, courage, and force (guns and bullets).
Secondly, there are many "reversals" in the play. That is, the character's change. The independent revolutionaries who once regarded death as their own destiny have distorted their human nature and wiped out their consciences in the long-term war. They have been among the independent revolutionaries, but they have become the intelligence lackeys of the Japanese warlords for money and future life. However, the two gangsters, Hawaii and their companions, who took money to kill people, realized the role of human nature, nation and country in the individual destiny in the completion of the task, and instead became heroes of rebellion.
Furthermore, the film depicts the characters with various small plot points (such as the head shot at a distance of 150 meters under the light of the streamer egg, the castrated boar, the wedding battle and other small plot points), which is very brilliant.
However, under the success of the film's commercial point of view (outstanding, passionate), there are still unsatisfactory places in one way or another. As the saying goes, no coincidence is a book, but the film text is obsessed with too many coincidental designs. For example, when two people escaped from prison, they met the person who came to meet them. For example, when Hawaii and their companions attacked the Japanese, they happened to be witnessed by the Revolutionary Party. For example, the female assassin went to the French Concession to drink coffee. However, it happens that the Japanese make trouble and get acquainted with Hawaii. For example, on the train from Hawaii to Beijing, they happened to meet Mitsuko's fiance. For example, when Hawaii and her companions were being questioned by the Japanese, Mitsuko's fiance happened to drive by. For example, when Mitsuko went to find her fellow female assassin. The killer who happened to be sent by his father accidentally killed him. For example, the female assassin proposed to make the stabbed object's car run out of gas. The car happened to run out of gas at the gas station after moving hands and feet. So many carefully crafted coincidences have a role in driving the plot and actually weaken the film's credibility.
In short, the film's eulogy of heroes, reflections on anti-heroes, and reflections on war are relatively successful.
