The story of "Burning Coins" is not complicated. A pair of inseparable gay robbers, after a robbery, escaped, distanced themselves, and finally reconciled under the siege of the police, but failed to escape the curse of death. Falling in love with someone is something that cannot be changed. No matter whether you are distressed or overwhelmed, you cannot change the fact that you are in love with someone, just like fate in ancient Greek tragedy.
Compared with action movies, life and death related to love are more likely to make the audience feel thrilling, not to mention this movie has both. This movie also satisfies the preference of some female audiences for handsome gay men. Whether it is the affectionate and charming Nene or the extremely jealous Angel, they are all handsome men. Such a combination of wild robbers and a very sexually suggestive encounter firmly caught the audience's attention from the very beginning of the film. In addition, it is commendable that the director did not use a straightforward bed scene to show eroticism, which may disappoint some audiences, but when they saw Nene and Angel lying on a bed naked and sleeping, their hands were extremely natural I still feel great satisfaction when holding scenes together.
The director deliberately omits passion but better shows the intimacy between the two, even straight men will not feel disgusted, or rather have a feeling of envy rather than disgust. There are plenty of suggestive scenes in the movie, even a seduction. However, the director of the scene of sex between the opposite sex made no secret of it, and the large exposing sex scenes created a strong contrast with the implicitness of same-sex love.
With the help of the ingenious soundtrack and the highly metaphorical monologue, the inner conflicts and contradictions of the characters are vividly displayed. The handling of the characters' expressions is also accurate, and the jealousy, trembling, uncontrollable pain and loneliness shows the fiery love between the same sex, which is impressive. At the end, the audience is even willing to ignore their criminal identity and be moved by their love. The bullet casings and burnt coins on the ground convey a view of love that is contrary to common sense. Losing a loved one, the world is like a moonless night, with nothing but darkness and despair, and any reason to live seems reluctant.
Finally, the movie is based on a true story. For the audience, the authenticity makes the film more valuable to relive.
