"Miracle"

This is a movie directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda in 2011. Before that, there was another "Ghost Story 4: The Day After Tomorrow". Because no resources were found, it had to be abandoned.

This film is about two ten-year-old brothers, Hangichi and Ryunosuke, who are separated from each other because of their parents' divorce. They miss each other very much. At this time, a legend was popular among the local people: when newly built Shinkansen trains meet each other, if they make a wish in their hearts, a miracle will occur. So the two of them met on the phone and met at the train intersection, fulfilling the wish that a family of four could be reunited. So, after some preparations, they and a few classmates set off with good wishes.

The children in the film have different wishes. Hang Yi hopes that his family will be reunited, Ryunosuke's female classmate hopes to become an actor, Hang Yi that classmate first wants to become a baseball player, and then hopes that his pet cat will be reborn. In the eyes of adults, these "miracles" they long for are undoubtedly very naive. But don't underestimate these wishes, it doesn't matter whether their dreams can really come true. It is these desires that accompany their growth, make them mature, and give them the pursuit of life. It is precisely these pure wishes that have not been polluted by society that represent the nature of human beings. There is always a dream in life, and what people do is to turn those dreams into reality. Think about it, "Who am I? Where do I come from? Where do I go?" Don't these basic philosophical propositions start out in people's childhood dreams?

Hang Yi's father is a musician, dreaming about his music all day long, while his mother worries about making a living. In the common people's concept, life is first to wear clothes and eat, and then to other social activities. This is certainly good. The daily routine that Hang Yi's mother is concerned about is also right. But in today's material society, the pursuit of material things has become the only one, while the pursuit of spirituality is dispensable. As a result, those business elites are highly respected, and those who are engaged in music, art, and poetry become marginalized in society if they cannot make money. Hang Yi's father is such a typical "waste wood". He has his own troubles and his own thoughts.

When Ryunosuke asked his father, "What is redundant cutting?"

Father: "Solution: Useless things must be eradicated."

Ryunosuke: "Mom told you that too."

Father: "Remember, the world needs useless things. You'll feel suffocated when everything makes sense."

Ryunosuke: "But you can't just be trash, right?"

Father: "Dad thinks that when you grow up, you will not only care about yourself, but will care about other more important things."

Ryunosuke: "What is that?"

Father: "For example, caring about music, caring about the world."

Ryunosuke: "What is the world? I don't understand."

Father: "One day, you will understand."

I agree with Hang Yi's father's view. If people live only to eat and clothe themselves, they do feel suffocated. In this world, there are still many things that deserve attention and need people to participate in. This is not a reluctance, but an obligation that human beings should undertake from the day they were born. Once upon a time, people either subconsciously or forced to give up this obligation, and even take self-cleaning as the highest state of "goodness". However, as a social animal, sooner or later, people will gradually realize that it is human nature to care about the world and others. Although people accuse Hang Yi's father of being useless, call him "waste wood", and laugh at his failures in life, it is in him that we see more precious things, namely, the unremitting pursuit of ideals and the pursuit of the world. Deep love. At this point I seem to see the shadow of Lennon and Yoko Ono.

Hang Yi's dream is very practical, that is, to reunite his family. But it is also difficult to achieve. It reflects the family relationship in modern society. Not only in Japan, but also here, people continue to marry, separate, and divorce, which seems to be the norm in today's society. Hang Yi's family is the same. This is how I see it. The development of modern technology has made people's communication more convenient, not to mention long-distance calls. Wechat and QQ have made relatives far away at hand. However, people in modern society pay more attention to utilitarianism, but their emotions are getting weaker and weaker, and the gap between hearts is getting bigger and bigger. In modern society, the relationship between relatives is getting further and further apart. They have sex when they wake up, and they disperse when they get drunk. This is one of the reasons for the breakdown of families. On the other hand, people also know that the relationship between husband and wife is like a friend, as the old saying goes: one confidant in life is enough. It can be seen that it is not easy to be a lifelong friend. Although the country is easy to change, the nature is difficult to change, but the thoughts and emotions are constantly changing with the experience. At this time, if we can be friends, we will live together. At that time, the two people's ideas have changed, and they can't talk about one another. They are still separated from each other. Don't always talk about family responsibilities. The only thing to be careful about is not to hurt the child. In the film, Hangichi and Ryunosuke worked so hard to get together, which is really sad.

While watching this "Miracle", I also watched another Japanese movie "The Last Recipe: Memories of Kirin Tongue". The styles of the two films are very different. The latter is beautiful photography, carefully crafted lines, and carefully made-up characters. In "Miracle", the composition is very casual, the light is mostly natural light, and the language of the characters seems to be revealed naturally. For example, Wuji’s children’s words often heard in the film, the old man changed his socks while drinking, the grandfather was obsessed with the taste of soft soup, and the complicated wires on the Japanese streets. Both styles have their own characteristics, and both give people the enjoyment of beauty, especially "Miracle", if you think about it carefully, you can better understand Hiro-eda's unintentional intentions and his inadvertent artistic skills. I feel that the trend of film development, whether it is plot, scene, or language, is becoming more and more lifelike, and it is getting closer and closer to the natural state. Except for Marvel, of course.

Among the actors, Lin Xi's performance is still the most appreciated, although her role is not important. Abe Hiroshi is also good, and he is only a cameo. At the end of the film, the very old saying: "I chose the world, not my family." I don't understand. Is it to echo what Hang Yi's father said, or is it something else? Not very clear, intriguing.

My rating: 7.5.
