This time, Hirokazu Kore-eda brings us a story about "hope".
The older brother of the fourth grade of elementary school learned in a small chat with his friends that the newly opened Shinkansen runs from two directions, and the moment it intersects with each other can generate huge energy.
If you make a wish at this moment, a "miracle" can happen and the hope will come true~~, just like people make a wish when they see a comet~~.
After my parents divorced six months ago, my brother and my mother returned to Kagoshima to live with my grandparents. Kagoshima has an active volcano called Sakurajima that erupts all year round, and the city is often filled with volcanic ash. Looking at the volcano every day and smelling the volcanic ash is the daily life of the local residents, but my brother is really not used to it.
Grandpa presides over an old wagashi fruit shop, ~~has the old man's own pursuit,~~ Although the old man and drinking friends who have a good relationship suggest adding some pink to make cherry blossom fruit, so that the taste will not be so "light", and the appearance will also be good better. However, the grandfather who has his own pursuit insists that only white wagashi is qualified to be called wagashi;
Grandma, as always, is babbling in the style of Hirokazu Koreeda, and every line she speaks is a philosophy of life;
Mom, it's mom. After staying at my parents' house for half a year after the divorce, I have to start looking for a job. Seeing that he is going to live here for a long time, my brother desperately hopes that there will be a big eruption in Sakurajima, because my grandfather said, "Everyone will move to Kagoshima." As for where to move, my brother thinks it should be a family of four six months ago. I live in Osaka.
Describing the details of the family from the perspective of a child, it is easy to recall Taiwan director Yang Dechang's "One One". The difference is that in "Yi Yi", Yi Yi only plays the role of an observer, while in "Miracle", the elder brother wants to take action to change the status quo he is dissatisfied with - the way to change is to face the whistling. And the Shinkansen that passed by wished for a violent volcanic eruption!
Because the mother said at the time "the younger brother is the same as the father", the younger brother thought that the mother hated him as much as the father.
So when we divorced half a year ago, my younger brother took the initiative to choose to live with his father.
Dad was playing in a band, and he often quit his job because of his musical pursuits or because of the stinky stinky habit of art people. In my mother's opinion, this was an "irresponsible performance", so he quarreled all day, so he got divorced.
My younger brother is very comfortable and happy with his father, and he often brings his friends to the house to play with his father's band. In order to support the family, my father also went to the dock workers and went home very hard every day. Is this a change brought about by his divorce-taking responsibility for his younger brother who lives with him?
The brother's wish is that the active volcano in Kagoshima erupts again, so that he can move back to Osaka with his mother and live with his father and brother in Osaka "with a family of 4".
Two of my brother's friends also have wishes, one is to marry a librarian who is bare-legged all day long, and the other is to become a professional baseball player.
The younger brother does not have a strong will for "a family of 4 to live together", because he has just planted peas, and he will be able to pick peas next spring.
The three little girls who had a good relationship with their younger brother all had wishes to fulfill, and thought that it would be unfriendly for the younger brother to directly reject the older brother, so the younger brother agreed to make a wish together in another phone call with the older brother.
~~ Among the three little girls, one little girl wants to be an actor, and the other two little girls' wishes were not explained at the beginning of the plot. ~~
The story revolves around the seven children making a wish.
The small obstacles estimated by my brother in the process of making a wish together are: 1. To go to Kumamoto Prefecture, where the Shinkansen intersects, which is the place where the wish is made, the required fares and fast food money; 2. The school does not give permission. This can be regarded as a little dramatic conflict given by the well-spoken plot.
Why is it a small obstacle? In Hirokazu-eda's film, it is a narrative that flows smoothly and smoothly. Of course, for these children, these little obstacles are no less than the big monsters on the treasure hunt.
Later, of course, these obstacles were resolved one by one.
Because of the help of the young lady in the school infirmary, the wish of the child who wanted to marry the librarian changed to marrying the school doctor.
After the two groups of people converged, there was a small episode. The child of Kwai Deng fell behind and met the police, and the little friend who came back to find her faced the risk of being deported. After all, everyone and the family said that they were going to participate in the study group tonight. Not going home. In the face of the police inspection and questioning, the little girl who had always dreamed of being a "little actor" acted and pretended to be the granddaughter of the old man on the street. At the same time, she also got the tacit cooperation of the old couple who lived alone and saved the danger. The children also lived in the night. the old couple's home.
In the end, when the children faced the speeding Shinkansen, some children consistently shouted their wishes, and some shouted out what they thought temporarily, but they were all the purest dreams. Only the slightly mature brother let go of his obsessions and did not express any wishes. He also confessed when he said goodbye to his younger brother, and the younger brother also confessed that he did not shout out his wish for "reunion".
Every child has a dream in his heart. My brother chose to give up at the moment when the dream was about to come true. Did he grow up not believing in these fairy tale wishes or was he not ready for the moment when the "miracle" came?
In short, after returning home, my brother calmly faced the volcanic ash flying all day. Did my brother accept the ordinary day after day?
Life goes on as it is.
The little girl who has always dreamed of being a "little actor" who really started her dream, she has confirmed her goal through this trip, and she can be regarded as an option to guide the audience: if you have a dream, try to realize it.
But in the whole play, it is Hirokazu Kore-eda who used his brother's actions to tell us adults, "The hope we think is not what we really want", and miracles will not happen, and life will continue to be as it should be. It looks like it's running all the way, so it's actually very beautiful.
