comrade and mortal

[Written on the front: Obsessed with hormones, Lee Pace's film, very early. At that time he was not yet the much-anticipated and breathtakingly beautiful Elf King Thranduil.
I like Pepe at this time very much, because of beauty, because of innocence.
But the story is very sad, so the film review also dragged on for a long time. Same-sex love couldn't be blessed at that time, so it became an irreversible tragedy in the end.
As I wrote it, all the Barry and Cal things played out in my head, until the shocking bright red at the end. ]
Frankly speaking, the reason why I chose to watch the movie "Crazy Hormones" is not because of the gay theme in it, but because of the good looks of actor Lee Pace. He's the noble Elf King in The Hobbit, and he's also the glamorous transgender dancer in Soldier's Girl (i.e. obsessed with hormones). He and soldier Barry met at a bar and fell in love, but it ended in tragedy. Barry goes to a bar for drinks with his roommate Fisher and some other good friends, then meets Calpernia, a beautiful transgender dancer. Fisher instigated Barry to ask if Cal was a man or a woman. But the kind-hearted Barry didn't tell the nasty bet between his roommates, and he won Cal's favor for it. Then the two started dating. Barry didn't care about Cal's transgender status, and the two lived happily ever after. But the homophobic roommate couldn't accept it, and Fisher began to instigate the conflict between Glover and Barry, a new soldier, and suggested that Glover kill Barry on a rainy night. The ignorant Glover did exactly that, and Barry died one rainy night.

I think the hardest thing about this movie is that it's a true story. Those beautiful relationships you see in movies, whether it's two people pouring beer on each other on the BBQ, or saying goodnight to each other in the corner like lovers who just got together, all happened. And that means the fights between the soldiers you see at the end of the film and the blood splattering on Barry's bed at the end are also real. This is the most heart-wrenching part. In this world, there really is a Barry who died because of the homophobia of his roommate. And he didn't do anything wrong, he just fell in love with Cal.

Regarding homosexuality, I believe it has always been a very sensitive topic in China. And I, as a fan of the European and American circles, have long been surprised by this. In the European and American circles, many male and female stars do not shy away from being gay/les. They/they stand up bravely and tell people that homosexuality is no different from ordinary people. I've always liked this a lot, and I'm gay-friendly myself. In my eyes, this is everyone's different choices about love and marriage. We have no right to interfere, and all we can give is respect.

I think no one stipulates that love must happen between the opposite sex. In my opinion, the point of the story in the film is not whether the Cal that Barry falls in love with is a man or a woman, he just falls in love with Cal. They are attracted to each other just because Cal is Cal and Barry is Barry. I guess it's a fate, and Barry certainly didn't think he would be like this until he met Cal, but this is love, and it can make you the person you least expect it to be. Barry met Cal and they fell in love, which I don't think was wrong in itself. Unfortunately, Barry is unfortunate enough to have a homophobic and mentally ill roommate, Fisher.

The story ends tragically, at the end of the film, Barry is sleeping in the hallway due to an argument with recruit Glover, while Cal is participating in a very important game that ends up winning. Barry, who was sleeping in the corridor, knew nothing of what he was about to encounter, and Cal's happy game scene contrasted with the background of the rainy night, which further rendered the atmosphere of tragedy and highlighted the tragedy of the film itself. The crimson blood on the white wall was so striking it stinged my eyes. And Cal learned the news of Barry's death after the game. He crouched down in pain and cried silently...

I think Barry and Cal really love each other, it's not them that's wrong, it's just the people of that era and the people of that era policy. Fortunately, our society is now much more open and tolerant towards homosexuality. In fact, like us, they are also mortals, and they also have emotions and desires. Comrades and mortals, we should show tolerance.
