Each has its own beauty

Brad's been different from everyone since he was a kid, he's screaming at times and his legs and neck are shaking uncontrollably. Being a different child is easy to be isolated from everyone. Fortunately, Brad has that confidence, optimism, and stubbornness in addition to his Tourette syndrome. At the age of twelve he said, "If everyone can accept me, I will not be so serious." Such philosophical words. Different, just a kind of vision and perspective. If everyone can accept it peacefully with an inclusive heart, the differences will not be so dazzling.
When Brad was a child, his mother tried to find a sense of belonging by exposing him to the Tourette's group, but they found it a hopeless and bleak group. People sitting around pity themselves except complaining. Tourette's patients have no future and no life. What they and society can accept is to let normal people support them. In this way, neither they nor the society will be disturbed, and everyone will live in peace. They themselves and society have determined that this group of people is God's remnant, and cannot live normally. Human existence is recognized in social relations, just living is not really living.
Brad's struggle is to integrate into the orthodox society and become "number one" under the orthodox standards. It's certainly not an easy process, but Brad's magnanimity and cheerfulness, humor and self-deprecation make this journey of struggle full of sunshine and joyful notes, just like those old songs that can't help but sway with him. The highest power is just that, play with your rules and beat you with your rules. Brad finally gained recognition and success. No matter you are "young or old, rich or poor, Democrat or Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled or not disabled", you can dream and be happy!
Our culture has a strong view of Datong, or the concept of unity. We appreciate neatness and consistency. For those different "weird people" in the group, kind people will kindly remind you; people who are not so patient will simply criticize you and directly interfere with you. Just like the scenes that appeared many times in "If You Are the One" that I watched recently, the female guests often have quite heated discussions around the habits of the male guests. In one episode, a guest with a beard came. "Beards are much rarer than bald ones on the If You Are the One arena." The guests talked a lot, some analyzed from the psychological level, some speculated from the symbolic meaning, and some kindly comforted. There is a kind of swearing to let people shave their beards and return to the "public face". To survive in this system, you just have to follow and learn, learn the orthodoxy, and take the right path. People in the previous generation were so happy, and the people around them were so happy, so you can too.
In fact, our lives can be more colorful, our world can be more beautiful, Brad has shown us.
Each has its own beauty, the beauty of the beauties, the beauty and the beauty together, the world is harmonious

Front of the Class quotes

  • Brad Cohen: It's hard to be patient when you feel as though you've blown your last chance.

  • Jim Ovbey: Hilarie and I discussed you with the teachers. And, we talked about how proud we are of teaching our kids to never let anything hold them back in life. And, Hilarie said that if we're gonna talk the talk, we need to walk the walk.
