At the beginning of the film, two teenagers are riding a motorcycle in the rainy night, and the music is brisk and refreshing. But soon, the murderous backs and conversations as they pass through the back kitchen are unsettling. Sure enough, the knife fell from his hand, blood dripped, and a broken hand sank into the steaming hot pot soup. Just rushing to the beginning, the movie has already won.
The father's appearance was also very exciting. It was a scene at the driving school. The front foot was still scolding the students, and the back foot answered the phone. The son's court trial that day, but he deliberately absent, showing his anger and abandoning his son. But soon, under the persuasion of his wife, his attitude softened and he agreed to attend the trial the next day. His wife understood his temper and deliberately gave him the steps to go down.
The relationship between the family is basically clear. A loving mother, a poor son, and a strict father are typical Chinese family roles.
Then the eldest son appeared on the stage, and only then did he realize that there were originally two sons in the family. The father gave the eldest son tuition fees in a scene. It can be seen that he valued this son, which was different from his previous "ignorance" of the younger son. Attitudes are in stark contrast.
The eldest son has very few scenes. Compared with the strong dramatic tension of other characters in this family, he feels warm, like a glass of water, he can't see the background color clearly, and he can't guess what he is thinking. But he is the director's tool for "pointing the question", the metaphor of Sima Guang's smashing the tank to save himself, and the perception of shadows in the zoo, all point to the theme of "sunshine".
The eldest son always looks clean, sunny, excellent, and has no shortcomings. This is also his fixed character in this family. From childhood to adulthood, he played a good son worthy of his parents' boasting. After his younger brother entered the juvenile detention center, he became a whole family. of hope. In order to maintain this character, he had to hide some of his willful, selfish, and unsunny aspects, but it was very tiring to maintain such a character, so he chose to commit suicide and let himself fall into darkness completely. The only time he was willful, and the last time he was self-willed, exposed his dark side.
The suicide scene was handled very well. It was presented with a "tactful" notification from the neighbors. When I saw this scene, I didn't even realize what happened.
The eldest son died unexpectedly, and the younger son was released from prison. I liked his rivalry with Hei Lun, and Hei Lun calmly showed him his amputated limb, saying that even if the broken hand fell in the cesspool, it could be reattached, but it would not work if it fell into the hot pot, because the tendons were all shrunk.
There are some mistakes in this world that really don't give people a chance to make up for them. This is another lesson for my younger son. Another reason I especially liked this scene was the absence of that heart-wrenching, ritualistic apology. The young man who made mistakes in those days has grown into an adult and knows the importance. He understands that it is useless to apologize for some hurt. But at that time, he must have scolded himself 11,000 times as a "jerk" in his heart.
The role of Caitou is also very strong. Some people say that he loves and hates Ah He (the younger son). I don't think there is love in it, just jealousy and hate. Back then, if it wasn't for Ah He's instigation, he would not have made a big mistake if he attacked people out of the loyalty of his buddies. In court, Ah He cowardly shirks responsibility, which makes him hate. After he was released from prison, Ah He was accepted by his family, and his life began to return to the right path. He even had a wife and children. After he was released from prison, he found that his home was gone, and he had no relatives to rely on. He could only fall into the underworld and never again. Can't go back. So he sticks to Ah He like a dog skin plaster, trying to drag him into the abyss together. Caitou's hatred was very straightforward in the opposite scene with Ah He's father.
Therefore, the appearance of Caitou has become a shadow and a heart disease in Ah He's heart. As a parent, even if you do something horrific like murder, you must protect your child's life. In the end, the father revealed that he killed Caitou, which was really shocking and emotional. What can parents do for their children?
Ah He was unaware of all this. On the viaduct, he learned that Caitou was dead, and he got an unexpected wealth. Suddenly, he felt the sunshine and warm, as if he had been blessed by God, and ran recklessly. But he didn't know that this god was actually his own father.
I think this movie is very interesting, although it seems a little heavy, but many of the details are very intriguing. Just like its English translation "A Sun", not "The Sun". Sun (sun) Son (son) homophonic, "A Sun" homophonic is also "a son", which echoes the father's insistence that he has only "one son".
I heard that this movie was shortlisted for this year's Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film along with "Youth as a Teenager". I personally think "Youth as a Teenager" should be no match for "The Sunshine". Although "Youth as a Younger" is also excellent, the truth of life presented in "The Sunshine" is more complicated and the level of humanity is richer.
