It's grand, and it's awesome!
Soviet film and television productions have a distinctly different temperament from Hollywood productions. I haven't read the original book yet, but I have already heard of the famous name of Russian literature.
Bringing a famous novel to the screen has always been difficult. If it succeeds, that is the classic of "Gone with the Wind", and if it fails, it is the end of "Base". Movies have a completely different way of telling stories than words. Speaking of "Gone with the Wind", it is a single protagonist and a single line from beginning to end. Personally, I think it is relatively easy to shoot, and the difficulty of group portraits with social and historical background has more than doubled.
Personal feelings about the main story of war and peace are the group portraits led by the three protagonists. In the context of historical wars, the content of the story itself is very complicated. To be able to move from textual expression to screen display, it requires precise grasp and appropriate trade-offs. Not to mention the subjective perspective and psychological description monologue of the original work. So you can see the difference from the current movie, there are a lot of character narration and subjective shots, showing the psychological state of the characters. It was a little uncomfortable at first, but just take a look. The director's shot language level is very high, every frame is as beautiful as a classical oil painting, and many montage techniques are very suitable for showing characters or battlefields. Of course, the most laudable is the war scene. In the era of no special effects, the grand war scene was restored with real scenes. Just thinking about the complexity of the shooting schedule makes me feel guilty and suffocated, and the director is still the male protagonist. How big is this? workload!
In addition, for such a masterpiece, such a movie is already the ultimate, but I can also feel that some parts are progressing too fast, so I still plan to read the original book.
