I have always admired German movies, and since I watched "The Wave" in high school, I feel more and more that German movies give me a different charm than Hollywood popcorn movies. It's a self-thinking and touching rigor at the same time.
The story tells the story of how a troubled teenage girl got along with her elderly female piano teacher and finally succeeded in gaining recognition on the piano road. From the very beginning of the film, you can see the dramatic conflict that the film highlights. The old teacher refused to teach the girl the piano because of the girl's impoliteness. The girl beat the prison guard in anger and showed her amazing piano talent in front of the female teacher. So the female teacher decided to help the girl out of her rebellion.
There is a background in the film about the history of World War II in Germany. Because the female teacher has experienced World War II and the fascist era, the Hitler in her heart has not been completely eliminated in her heart. In Germany at that time, nigger music was completely boycotted by Goebbels, so there was no nigger music in Germany at that time. And the old teacher was no exception to hate this kind of music, she hated Jenny playing nigga music very much. In the film, Jenny has many disputes with the teacher because of playing black music, which also reflects the status of black music in the teacher's heart. But in the same way, during World War II, homosexuality was not recognized, and the young female teacher had to be restricted in her actions because she fell in love with a woman. They love each other because of the piano and because of the music. But fate tricks them. The departure of a loved one hurts the teacher's heart. And now, also because of the piano and music, the teacher fell in love with Jenny. In order for Jenny to participate in the piano competition, the teacher secretly takes the little girl Jenny out of prison. And when the police found that the missing two were about to arrest the little girl. The teacher interceded for her, gaining four minutes. During these four minutes, the girl puts her nigga music in front of everyone, getting approval from the audience, but also from the teacher. The little girl also changed her usual arrogance and rudeness and saluted the teacher.
The film won the Golden Goblet Award at the 9th Shanghai International Film Festival. The chairman of the jury, Luc Besson, commented on the film: "We gave this award to "Four Minutes" in less than four minutes. Indeed, this award is well deserved. German films are sometimes so people like it. Except Uvibauer, of course.
