The rating is a bit inflated, friends who want to watch remember to come and tease
The last time I watched a Brazilian movie, it was "City of God" which gave me a great shock.
"City of God" has many perspectives, and the plot is ups and downs, but it has a smooth feeling like a machine gun pouring bullets, and it is also a drama film, but this one is mixed with jerky and abrupt turns in the plain and straightforward narrative like boiled water.
Without further ado, let's start talking about movies.
As usual, talk about the plot first, and then talk about the feeling.
sisters
Gilda and Euridice are sisters living in Brazil.
Like all sisters who grew up together, they were very close, talked about everything, and never separated.
20-year-old Gilda is completely in love with the handsome sailor she met in the ballroom; 18-year-old Euridice dreams of becoming a pianist.
One night, Gilda slips out on a date with the sailor and asks Euridice to open the back door and wait for her to come home.
Euridice waited all night, and then several days, only for the letter from Jeddah from the ship that she had eloped with the sailor.
separate
Gilda just cut off the news, and Euridice didn't come back when she got married.
More than a year later, Jeddah, with a big belly, went home alone and became a single mother.
Jeddah thought she could get her parents' forgiveness by admitting her mistake. She didn't want her father to be still angry, so she kicked her out of the house and lied to her that Euridice went to Vienna after her marriage.
Jeddah rents a shabby house and writes letters with thoughts of her sister.
Because she didn't know the address, she could only send the letter home, begging her parents to pass it on to her sister.
A few months later, Jeddah gave birth to a boy. Because she had no money, she left her son secretly discharged from the hospital, and went out to work at night.
Life was hard, and writing to Euridice was her only consolation.
At the same time, Euridice found out that she was pregnant, which conflicted with the time of the music school that she wanted to go to.
When she was in a dilemma, she thought of her sister; if it was Jeddah, what would she do?
hard to find
The two sisters, who had never met again, finally made the same choice: Jeddah ran back to the hospital to pick up her son, Euridice gave up her studies and waited for childbirth in peace.
Jeddah worked two jobs, going to the shipyard on weekdays and working as a waiter on weekends. The bitterness and tears in life turned into a letter that Euridice had never received, and was trapped at her parents' house.
She has been saving money to get passports for herself and her son, and go to Vienna to find Euridice.
Unfortunately, being hindered by the status of a single mother, the idea of looking for a sister gradually faded.
Euridice hired a private detective and searched the world for her sister, but to no avail.
Who would have thought that the relatives they have been thinking about are actually in the same city as themselves?
stop thinking
In the blink of an eye, it was another four or five years. The closest distance between Gilda and Euridice was in the same restaurant.
Euridice went to the audition for the music school, playing the piano and imagining how happy she would be if Jeddah was there on the wedding day, and was successfully admitted to the school.
Jeddah's landlord was seriously ill. In order to leave the house to her, he exchanged identities with her and was buried in Jeddah's name.
The private detective brought Euridice to the tomb. Euridice was sad and angry because her father knew that Jeddah was coming back but never told her.
Euridice returned home and, in desperation, burned Jeddah's belongings, even her most cherished piano.
Under the huge blow, Euridice's spirit collapsed, she was admitted to the mental hospital, and she never came out again.
the end of the song
Euridice, who spent the rest of her life in a mental hospital until her husband's death, found Jeddah's letter when she went home to organize her things.
With great shock and sadness, Euridice choked up reading these life-long letters.
Euridice followed the address and learned that Gilda had long since passed away.
Jeddah has suffered a lot in her life, and the only thing she can console her is that her younger sister Euridice lived a happy life and became a respected pianist in faraway Vienna.
This film spans decades and records the life segments of a pair of sisters, who are not allowed to meet in the same city. One died in depression and the other spent the rest of his life in a mental hospital. All kinds of coincidences bring about the impermanence of life. Embarrassing.
As for the title of the movie "The Invisible Woman", the purpose is to show the confusion and struggle of women, but they are ignored by the men around them?
But my sister also went to the conservatory of music. Although her husband was reluctant, he finally gave in. And my sister was kicked out of the house when she was a single mother. I can only say that her life is not good and she is a cold-blooded father. Most fathers in the world are I wouldn't treat my daughter like that.
As for the hard work and sacrifices the sisters put in to raise their children, it is determined by the gentle and careful physiological characteristics of women. If this aspect needs to be emphasized, then let the man give birth to the child. It is absolutely fair to lose the premise. It's absolutely biased.
Also, the movie doesn't make a special statement about the father and husband's hidden letters for decades. This is a bit baffling: co-authors would rather let their own daughter/wife become mentally ill than let their sisters meet? This is a kind of self-harming spirit wow.
Can't figure it out.
