Of course these are off-topic.
In the dark history of Hong Kong cinema, I am afraid no one can surpass Johnnie To. At a time when many directors have devoted themselves to big productions, there are only a few directors in Hong Kong who still insist on shooting their own themes, such as To Qifeng. At first glance, To Qifeng's films are mostly gangsters, thieves, detectives and other topics that are hidden in the dark side of society. The expressions are also different, either as light as "Lark", or as heavy as "Underworld". But Du Qifeng, as always, made these films and used these themes to express human nature over and over again.
A person is a world.
This sentence could not be more suitable for the review of "Detective". This is especially true of detectives who live on the dark side of society. Just as the eyes of soldiers who are used to seeing life and death will become blank and empty, the eyes of detectives will naturally become unpredictable.
Not even one of Du Qifeng's films could be dropped, and of course it wasn't just for the fat man Lin Xue. But John To can show you the art of Hong Kong, a society at the bottom of the mixed culture.
