Being entangled in the truth seems to be falling into the trap created by Bi Gan. Before delving into it, as a local person, I realized the "emotion" that the director wanted to express. Although the rich connotation of this film cannot be explained at once, I can't help but tear it up.
Starting from the place where I think I have the right to speak, there are three great songs of the Dong nationality after falling into a dream! The first part is the background music flying down by the rope, called "May Cicada Song", which is sung by the whole village in the worship ceremony. The second part is the back music of Huang Jue and Tang Wei being locked in the billiard room. It is also a big song. In the third paragraph, Tang Wei pulls Huang Jue to see the revolving house. It is a folk song sung duet by men and women, and it is a love song. These three pieces of Dong songs are really brilliant, with a sense of mystery and emotion.
I believe that 99% of the friends who walk into the cinema do not know the difference. After the Dong nationality song was selected into the world intangible cultural heritage list, many people used it, but I think Bi Gan used it the smartest here.
Although this is a very unattractive place, this point is really important. Kaili speaks Miao dialect, and the filming locations are Jianhe County, Danzhai County, and Kaili City. It should appear in places where these Miao people live together, but in Bi Gan's eyes, the distinction between ethnic groups is unclear.
Immigrants and ethnic groups bring about a cultural mix that underpins the film. In Bi Gan's eyes, Carey is what he looks like under his camera, with rich cultural imagery, and he has restrained the mentality of preaching, and let the viewers write their own answers.
Qiandongnan Prefecture, with Kaili as the capital, has been the core area of Wujiang and Miaojiang since the Qing Dynasty. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, a large number of foreign builders came to build the third line. The ancestors of Bi Gan moved from other provinces to build Kaili. A large number of trains, mines and factories were built by third-tier builders in southeastern Guizhou. It is conceivable that the childhood memories of foreigners are industrialized and discrete. Growing up in the small city of Kaili, I also had a childhood full of industrialization.
