——————The following is my personal understanding ——————
Contains spoilers and personal analysis, please watch carefully!
The story, like the beginning, is about that "green book". The movie begins around this green book, a hunt for a murderer, and an old photo.
On the way to find the murderer of his friend Bai Mao, Luo Hongwu recalled his beloved Wan Qiwen.
Luo Hongwu mentioned in his recollection that "the movie is fake, the reality is real, but my memory can't tell what movie and reality are." And we are like Luo Hongwu, it is difficult to distinguish which are his memories and which are the stories that are happening.
But viewers who pay attention to the details will find that Luo Hongwu in the flashback has thick, dark hair, but in reality Luo Hongwu is nearly half a hundred years old and has gray hair. The director's design here is also ingenious, which makes it difficult to distinguish the story, and also makes our audience feel Luo Hongwu's state of mind.
I want to tell the story in two parts, one is before wearing 3D glasses, the other is after wearing 3D glasses
The story before putting on the glasses is to show us Luo Hongwu's background, the bitterness that happened to him, his nostalgia for his mother, his hatred for the person who killed the white cat, his love for Wan Qiwen and so on. The portrayal of each frame is a foreshadowing of the story after putting on glasses for the second half of our film.
When Luo Hongwu came to the cinema in desperation, we put on 3D glasses with him. This is a new cinematic experience for me, it breaks the distance between 2D and 3D, and the language of the film with glasses is also a hint of the director's alternative description of the back story.
Our "Last Night on Earth" is officially launched
At first I thought we were watching Luo Hongwu's movie in the cinema with him, but the director suggested in every detail that this was a dream of Luo Hongwu in the cinema.
The dream is divided into 4 parts: the ping pong trip with the "teenage white cat", the flight with Kaizhen, the dispute with the red-haired woman, and the revolving house.
Because it is a long shot, the background music is responsible for the transition and curtain call of traditional movies. Whenever a piece of shocking traditional Hakka (folk) music alternates with future sci-fi music, it also implies that the story in this dream has entered the next paragraph.
With the young white cat: Luo Hongwu and the young man met in the mine and had a seemingly plain but humorous ping-pong duel. The teenager is Luo Hongwu's fatherly love for the child who was knocked out by Wan Qiwen, and it is also Luo Hongwu's regret for the white cat. The teenagers are all the reflections of the white cats in Luo Hongwu's memory. The teenagers lived in the mines and liked to lie, while the white cats were found dead in the mines and also liked to lie.
With Kaizhen: The audience will think that Luo Hongwu has found Wan Qiwen, but in fact it is not. Kaizhen is a perfect woman created by Luo Hongwu's memory and emotions. She is Wan Qiwen and Luo Hongwu's beautiful incarnation of Wan Qiwen. Just like her name "Kerry's Pearl", for Luo Hongwu, Wan Qiwen is the pearl that grows out of mud and does not stain in Kaili. Speaking Mandarin without Carey's accent, yearning for the revolving house of love in the Green Book.
With the red-haired woman: The red-haired woman is Luo Hongwu's mother. She always took a torch to the hive to get honey to Luo Hongwu when she was young, but it was actually an affair with the beekeeper. She burned the house and ran off with the beekeeper. Luo Hongwu saw it all in his eyes, and he, who was unwilling to face the facts, had a dialogue with his mother across time and space. His feelings for his mother made him miserable, and after giving up, he finally let his mother pursue her own love. Eating apples, sad chain apple core eats one piece.
Rotating the house: This is the climax and end of the film, "You give you and me a watch, which symbolizes eternity, and I give you fireworks, which symbolizes short-lived, aren't we so short-lived?" At this time, Luo Hongwu followed Kaizhen Came to this burnt down house. Before chanting the spell to turn the house, Luo Hongwu had realized that he was dreaming, and he regretted that the night was about to end and the dream would wake up. Just like the last story in the green book, as long as two people who love each other are in the house and chanting a spell, this wonderful house will spin. The house also turned when Luo Hongwu and Kaizhen kissed.
The movie ends here, leaving an unfinished story. I suddenly realized that the final story of the film is not just Luo Hongwu's dream about the collision of memory, nostalgia and emotion, but also the love story that runs through the whole film "Green Book". We saw a seemingly bland and ordinary love story, but it is indeed a wonderful and crazy story. The story of our Luo Hongwu is the story in the Green Book, and when the house spins, the story ends. This is only half of the story, and we like it so much, as if it is the same as Wan Qiwen.
Luo Hongwu said to Wan Qiwen that we can escape and escape to the stars, and this seemingly ordinary line makes the whole story deserve the title: I had a dream at night, and after waking up, we will fly to the stars, Away from Earth, this is our last night on Earth.
People sometimes know they are dreaming, and tonight I have you in my dream, what I regret is that this night is too short, like a firework that is about to go out
