The story of how a middle-aged man was shot by his wife for cheating. If I have to say what this movie shows, it is how self-righteous the protagonist is, immersed in his fantasy kingdom, just like his wife shouted to passers-by: (protagonist) "Think that women all over the world are fascinated by you. ". Different from the traditional Hollywood-style narrative - the "disposal" of the derailed object to the protagonist. After a violent blow to the head, he tried to regain the old warmth, only to find that the former harbor had closed the door to him, and the door was even full of sharp thorns. This setting should also make the protagonist and the audience realize that the earth does not revolve around you alone, you can't want everything you want, and choosing also means giving up.
The shooting scene at the end is handled extremely well. The double-line editing stitches together completely different rhythms, amplifying the contrast between the two, and further strengthening its static and dynamic characteristics. Hitchcock's influence on Truffaut can be easily captured here. The frontal vehicle driving shots, cross-editing, and the overhead shot of his wife after the shooting are all tributes to the great director of suspense films.
However, the overall rhythm of the film is loose, and users have very limited access to information. To put it bluntly, it is "not attractive enough". Truffaut has already shown his ability to turn the everyday into a moving story in Four Hundred Blows, and Soft Skin might have been better.
