I was able to see this movie because I was looking for Mr. Sakamoto Ryuichi to participate in the composition of the film recently.
Let’s talk about the first image of seeing the poster first. Wow, there is Matsuda Longping, it should be a historical drama that Matsuda Longping played when he was relatively young, and it should be more serious. I saw that I was very interested in this combination when I saw the actors below and Takeshi Kitano, and the director was Nagisa Oshima. Because the film "Merry Christmas on the Battlefield" in which the professor debuted and composed was directed by Nagisa Oshima, and the cast also included David Bowie and Takeshi Kitano. So I decided to watch this one first.
Next, let’s talk about the perception in detail. I started with the feeling of watching a serious historical drama, and when the first inner monologue with an outside voice, played by Takeshi Kitano, began, I felt that it was not so simple? I began to laugh until the end of the film.
Personally, this is the first time I've seen a same-sex film made in this way. It is a very serious, serious, concise, and upright feeling to talk about the goodness of Longyang. There is no obvious rejection or devaluation of homosexuality. The surface is still respectful, although there are discussions behind it. I don't know much about the history of Japan. Is it true that at that time, people were very tolerant of homosexuality, not very exclusive?
Then again, I really like that the pictures in the movie are beautiful, even the bloody scenes of Garner holding his head are very clean and not scary.
And the lines in it are really good! No nonsense. Simple and clear, really love it.
