My man (British, 31) and I watched Wolf Warrior 1 in Sydney two years ago. Wolf Warrior 1 is also the first Chinese movie (with English subtitles) that he has seen in his life. His impression at the time was: beyond expectations, very good.
Because it was a movie we watched during our date, it has a special meaning for us beyond the movie itself, so if the second movie is released, we will definitely watch it if we have a chance to watch it.

My evaluation of the first film is "it's not bad, the viewing process makes me more focused, and the film itself has a certain milestone significance in domestic films", but that's it, before I watch the second film, I basically I can't remember the first part...
So I can say with certainty that the second one is much better than the first:
The action scenes are excellent. The rhythm is better, the play is better, the characters are more interesting, the emotional line is more compelling, and the story setting is more exciting. And for some special reasons, I was moved to tears by its character's emotions... This is quite surprising to me, not because of national-level feelings, but because of the characters' personal feelings... I really like the heroine of this one, and I like the heroine of the previous one. Several other important supporting roles are also very fleshy and full of flesh, very cute. Disadvantages and advantages are few compared: indeed, the literary drama (mainly referring to the lines) at the beginning is rather blunt. It's not so much the lack of kung fu actors' literary ability, but rather the problem of the script lines themselves. Sometimes we feel that a word is a bit "passed", it may not be the meaning "passed" that the lines want to express, but the way of expression "passed". To express an emotion in the same way, we must have a softer, more reserved and reasonable way of expressing it in our daily life. As for the realism of Chinese oral communication, I am still learning. As a screenwriter, I still have to observe and understand life more.
In addition, I clearly remember a passage where the dialogue of several Chinese people was obviously replaced with dubbing, and the mouth shape was not correct. I don't know why the dubbing has to be replaced here. It can't be the original radio. I guess there are some sensitive parts of the original lines that have been harmonized...? Anyone who knows can tell me...
Overall I think it's a very successful commercial action movie and it's good to watch. At least when I watched it, my adrenaline was soaring and my blood was boiling.

As a rare British straight man who hates fantasy works, his least favorite movie genre is superhero movies (…), and his favorite genre is documentaries (…). Wolf Warrior leans towards the type he'll like.
I know you must think that this action film has a lot of exaggeration, but these do not change its classification. No matter how exaggerated it is, it is also a realistic type of action film, not a fantasy type, and there is no magic and superpower settings (although it uses barbed wire). There was a bit of a bullet there at one point...)
His perception is much simpler and more direct than mine, just one sentence: very, very beautiful.
For him, patriotism does not exist, so the evaluation of this film "very good" is more objective than me.
Just the opposite of my perception, because he doesn't understand Chinese, he has a huge sense of alienation in the hearing of the lines, and the English subtitle translation level of Wolf Warrior 2 is particularly high (I also want to mention this, I watched it in Australia. The English subtitles of all the Chinese movies in the movie are very good, and they should have been translated by people who are proficient in both Chinese and English), which caused him to avoid all the embarrassment that I felt that the lines were inappropriate when watching the movie.
And he has received all the laughter and tears that Chinese audiences can receive. Example: When the audience (almost all Chinese except him) laughed several times, his laughter was completely synchronized. This not only proves that the English subtitles are translated very authentically, but also shows that the sense of humor that the film wants to express at the deductive level transcends a single culture and is a successful humor shared by the world. Plus, 1/3 of the movie speaks English, making it more friendly to native English speakers.
So he was like this, listening to a foreign language that he didn't understand, but the emotions and pictures matched well, attached authentic and appropriate subtitles to understand the semantics, and watched wonderful fight scenes and stories. The result was that he got almost perfect perception.
After watching it, he asked me why this movie couldn't be released on a large scale in theaters all over the world like Hollywood movies of the same type, so that his family in the UK could also watch it.
(After all, if I hadn't told him about the movie, he wouldn't have come to watch this Chinese movie by himself...)
