Suicide Store

Suicide store, just looking at the name is enough to attract people, I thought it would be more Gothic, full of shadows, revealing human nature, and thought-provoking. Unexpectedly, after reading it, my heart is full of positive energy, and the black humor throughout, whether it is picture quality, singing, singing and dancing, and character modeling, is remarkable everywhere. Especially some of the songs and dances, funny, grotesque, sad, happy, hopeful, dark... It seems like an incredible story, in the different styles of singing, everything is postponed, there should be deep thinking and Humor, what should be inherited and transferred, should be expressed in detail, all in one step.

The film builds a nearly dead city in which almost everyone is desperate and looking for a way to die, so much so that the government has to issue a decree prohibiting people from committing suicide in public. In this environment, in a specialty store specializing in suicide supplies, a young boy who is smiling and optimistic all day long was born. He is not only alone, but also longs for everyone. So there are stories of children trying their best to prevent others from committing suicide, creating joy, and even destroying the ambitions of suicide stores. In the face of the French's cold humor, you can also guess that this film will not be a downright depressing work. Eye-popping. Xu is influenced by the style of Bolton's "Zombie Bride" and the like, black animated comedies always seem to be unable to escape heavy dark circles, thin limbs and even decadent expressions and actions. French taste: scattered structure, literary tone, quirky temperament, sharp and incisive language.

The tone established at the beginning of the film is gray and sad. People who commit suicide are like discarded things, falling from the upper floors one after another, like ants, and human life is worthless, so that the authorities have to stipulate that suicide is not allowed in public. In this gray tone, suicide shops are a bright spot, with colorful poisons, slings, and guns. The film does not explain what kind of background led to this modern spiritual crisis, perhaps it is an allusion to the haze of the economic crisis. Pedestrians who collided with cars on the road and even gray pigeons that fell from the sky all rendered a gloomy and tragic scene, and this small "suicide specialty store" has become a "safe haven" that gives hope to those who commit suicide. The film uses a relatively joyful singing and dancing form to resolve the sharp black background of the story itself. Although neither the tune nor the voice of the actors can be compared with films such as "Les Miserables", the lyrics are still full of fun.

The laughter brought by the youngest son Alan makes the suicide and the shopkeeper begin to examine the meaning and color of life. Ultimately, Allen managed to force his parents to close the suicide store and reopen a crepe shop. I thought it was a happy ending, but a hapless suicide suddenly appeared. He committed suicide several times without success. Even a sling that was stolen from the store was cut and broken by Allen. But the suicidal man finally died alone on the street at the newly opened crepe shop, where he bought a cyanide crepe from the owner's collection, Mishima. His hat flew to the happy crowd dining in front of the bakery. The world still has a dark side, but it is overshadowed by joy. The arrangement of this episode is quite interesting.

"Suicide Shop" deliberately arranges this suicide at the end, depicting a little flaw in perfection, adding a bit of pessimism, and revealing a reality: the savior does not exist, and one person cannot save everyone. If zoomed into the social metaphor, it can be said that no matter how many reforms the rulers make, there are still desperate people in the society. When we praise someone's reforms for being effective and a person in power for wise decision-making, we should also see that there are still people who don't live in the world they created and don't enjoy the dividends of reform. It is this kind of wandering on the fringes of society People who are easily ignored by the mainstream society are more worthy of humanistic care from the society. Here, too, a question arises: what is salvation? Is it to respect an individual's choice to give up his life, or to appease people and persuade them to look to tomorrow and hope? This seems like a paradox. Because since a person is respected, his opinions must be respected; but to respect him, his life and his human rights must be respected.

All in all, the idea of a film that does the opposite always works well. After experiencing the loss, I cherish the possession more, and after seeing the darkness, I yearn for the sunshine even more.
