[Thousand Days Talk] 20130707 [Daily Film Review] Singing and dancing: "Suicide Store"
article / Danda
"Poetry: The Great Preface" says this: "Poets are where their aspirations are. Be aspirational in your heart, speak up For poetry, the emotion is moved in the middle and the shape is in the words. The words are not enough, so I sigh. The
sighs are not enough, so I sing it. It will always be filled with a lot of mood swinging music, which can often awaken many feelings and emotions that people have forgotten in their daily life.
"Suicide Shop", if only from the name, can be classified as a horror movie, but it turned out to be a movie full of joy. The little boy Alan is the third child in this store. His parents are dedicated to helping people commit suicide, but he loves life very much. Everyone will guess the plot after that. It must be this little child and his parents. And the struggle of an attitude behind the pessimistic life represented by the parents.

There are actually many loopholes in the plot of the whole movie. Although we play the active role of the audience and can find some easter eggs and make reasonable explanations, it is not important, because this is a singing and dancing animation, when watching this movie During the process, the whole person's ears were almost filled with joyful songs, whether it was the father's introduction on how to buy suicide props, or how the child Allen and his friends ran wild on the road, or the parents of the specialty store were lamenting that they had been With the psychological burden of helping suicide for so long, Marilyn's boyfriend proposed to her, and the happy ending of opening a crepe shop was full of joy and laughter.
Maybe it should belong to a black humor animation, with a posture and scene setting that looks like a zombie movie, but with a brisk and bright singing voice.
Speaking of musicals, it reminds people of the "High School Musical" trilogy, followed by films such as "Spring in the Cattle Class", "August Love" and "The Sound of Music". It's no surprise that many times audiences rate these films high, not necessarily because the storytelling is great, but because the vocals resonate with people.
My teacher and writer He Dacao once said, I think that people can't communicate, which is often a barrier to language communication, and it is also the failure of mutual hearts to resonate with each other. This is a situation in the world of human life, but only music can do it. You can directly abandon the form of language, so that people can truly feel the emotion behind the music.

Going back to the movie itself, in fact, Jesus said a word, let those who are willing to die die freely, this is their freedom.
If viewed from this perspective, Allen is actually forcing others to accept his "don't die" point of view.
It is said in the movie that people choose to commit suicide every 40 minutes now. In the confrontation between Allen and the city, we also see that the world in which adults live is indeed full of all kinds of hostility and extremely serious depression, which makes people gasp for breath. However, the anger, so this small shop has the foundation to continue to operate.
It's hard for me to understand where Allen's innate optimism comes from, but perhaps as human beings, there is a desire to enjoy life. I just said that when Aaron was forcing others not to die, isn't Aaron's father Mishima also forcing others to accept that "death is a kind of happiness"?
This brings to mind the question, what is freedom, we should have the freedom to do something and the freedom not to do something.

It is worth mentioning that in the whole film, there are three particularly classic scenes:
Allen's father makes Allen smoke, sister Marilyn dances naked in the night sky, and Mishima sells chlorine at the end. Chemical Crepes.
Many people think that Mishima asked Aaron to smoke in order to make him die young, which is of course true, because in Mishima's fantasy, he also wanted to strangle Aaron to death. But as a father, Mishima's thoughts are very complicated. He neither wants Aaron to destroy his business, nor because of long-term psychological pressure, he does not want Aaron to be forced to take over the store when he grows up, maybe death really is a great relief.
Before his sister Marilyn danced, Allen's four unknown friends asked him, "What about the promised reward?" Allen said, "Don't worry, be patient." When Marilyn danced naked, I understood what Allen meant by pay. The next day, the mother saw Allen's drawing of Marilyn dancing naked in Allen's notebook. She didn't feel very angry, but saw the charm of vitality. In a city that is already very depressed, to express a kind of life tension, the element of sex is undoubtedly the most vital way of expression. Of course, what made people smile was that Allen's friends were stunned, and all of them fell to the ground.
In the end, Mishima sold a chloride crepe to a customer. The customer who played a clue role from the beginning was still dead. In Mishima's words, it was a farewell to his old life. In this crepe shop, now called "Vibrant", there will still be things with black elements such as burning skulls, pirate crepes, etc., and until the end of the film, we can still see this furniture. There are colorful crepe shops, surrounded by gray city buildings.
I thought that this was not a worry that the revolution had not yet succeeded. In fact, I thought it was an equal freedom. What do we mean by freedom? There is freedom to do something. Of course, there is also freedom not to do something. As long as this freedom does not hinder others, this is the freedom that is allowed. Arun never forced his father Mishima not to continue helping others to commit suicide. As long as they coexist and live together, this is the colorfulness the world should have forever.
When people commit suicide, the police will suddenly appear, give them a ticket, and then walk away. Such a scene, no matter what era or country it is in, always has a strong sense of sight. The name of this family is also very interesting. Marilyn should refer to Monroe, Vincent should refer to Vincent Van Gogh, Mishima should refer to Mishima Yukio, what exactly is the director reflecting on real life? Well, we don't know, I only know that there must be affection in singing and dancing, whether it is pessimistic or optimistic, whether it is turbulent or calm.
