The invaluable part of this movie is that its style is witty and easy to understand. It is not constructed with a lot of boring dialogues and deep metaphors like the 1960s literary films in my impression. As an audience, I watched it very deeply and was completely attracted. . Given that the release year is 2006, it is no wonder that it is relatively new. Telling the fate of tragedy in a comedy way is the most profound, and this is the case in different countries.
I think the male lead is real. In an age when everyone is cautious, he is the only one who follows his heart, regardless of race, politics, or possible consequences. When he was with the red-lantern girl in Hualou, he treated her wholeheartedly, gave her all the money he had left, and was favored by the goddess. When he was with his wife (I don't think it was love), he didn't care about his wife's German identity (Germany was defeated at the time), passed the genetic test of the top class and formed a successful marriage, and he didn't care about his Czech identity (until the film's In the end, he completed his identity as a Czech) or the consequences of being ridiculed by the crowd (Germans were bullied locally in the Czech Republic). He wants to go to jail, because only millionaires can go to jail, which is some kind of deformed status symbol, so he told all about his family (15 million). The hero is a brave man, an honest man, who the author wants us to be. Thinking independently and honestly no matter what, may be one of the few truths.
In the end, I like the details of throwing money.
