no throat cut

I recently watched a Korean movie "Miryang". I think it is up to Asian directors to film the deepest contradictions of human nature and the cruelty of life without blood and torture every day. Westerners are not so delicate and sensitive.

The story is about a woman who takes her son from Seoul to Miryang, her husband's hometown, to start a new life after her husband died in a car accident. When people are desperate, they will think of some self-deceiving ways to cover up their sadness and create false prosperity. Perhaps only in this way can they regain their courage. The movie hints very subtly that her marriage is not perfect, and her husband once betrayed. But as soon as a person dies, all the cracks are erased. She paranoidly believes that the love between the two will never be abandoned, and that her son growing up in her husband's hometown is the best consolation for the deceased. Her life was not rich, and her husband left behind a lot of debts to repay, but she insisted on filling up the money and went everywhere to see the real estate that she could not afford. As a result, he was targeted by the bad guys, and his son was kidnapped and ripped off.

Fate was so cruel to this woman, who lost everything, she began to participate in church activities in the town and believed in God. I have always felt that there is a big gap between folk church activities and real religion. In essence, it is the same as uncles and aunts beating gongs, drums and dancing yangko songs on the street, but with different emotions. She believes that God will relieve her pain, and the ultimate proof is that she is going to meet the murderer and forgive him in person, as Jesus said: forgive and love your enemy.

What surprised her was that the murderer looked much better than her and told her that he had also believed in religion after he was imprisoned and had been forgiven by God. Now he prays every day, and his heart is very peaceful. What is this? She hasn't forgiven yet, why did God forgive first? Why did the murderer get free before her?

She broke down completely, revived from the pain of temporary anesthesia, and then added the hatred of being fooled by God. She did everything she could to sabotage church activities, seduce pastors, and die for God to see.

At the end of the film, after recuperating in the hospital for a period of time, she recovered slightly, went to the barbershop for a haircut, and met the murderer's daughter. This little sister also experienced some vicissitudes after her father left, and the two had a peaceful conversation . I thought I was going to get out of the way and resolve the grievances. But she suddenly rushed out of the barber shop and looked at the sky with hatred. She thought that this was a situation that God deliberately set up. If she didn't forgive, she would not forgive.

I heard a very cold joke: a beautiful woman was kidnapped by a bad guy, and she screamed for help. The villain said with a lewd smile: Hehe, no one will come even if you shout out your throat. The beauty immediately shouted loudly: Break your throat! Break your throat! ! A good man heard the sound and beat the bad guy away. The rescued beauty asked shyly: May I ask the hero's name? The hero replied: I'll call my throat broken!

There is no "broken throat" in life, everything can only be endured alone, and no one can rely on it to redeem it. Maybe there is a master who transcends everything, but he can't really care for anyone, and he doesn't deliberately make things difficult for someone. In his opinion, all beings are like big waves and sand, and they have their own ups and downs. Only by recognizing that individual life is insignificant, so light that even pain cannot be attached, can we no longer be obsessed. Only by recognizing that everything is an illusion born from the mind can we understand that not seeing is a blessing. Don't try to throw sin to God for forgiveness and pain to God for relief, there is no one there, no one but yourself.

The extras in this movie are all real residents of Miryang. The guarded kindness, unconscious coldness, and self-righteous ignorance in human nature are all displayed naturally. Throughout the film, the sun is shining brightly, and the pain of life is illuminated at a glance.
