Along the trajectory of Angelopoulos' thought, it is natural to find this film, the legendary "Landscape in the Fog". Just like the title of the film, for a viewer unfamiliar with An Zhe, this film is "landscape in the mist". The film, as always, is full of the director's various metaphors for society, politics, and human beings. If you haven't mastered the pattern and method of dissecting An Zhe's film before watching it, it is indeed difficult to interpret it. Here, I suddenly realized the role of film critics. Although we will be infected by film critics’ personal subjective consciousness, how to find the key to understand the film depends on them. The relationship between film critics and directors is actually very delicate. On the surface, it seems that the former depends on the latter to support their families, but it is not. Under the premise that the film itself cannot speak, the film critic becomes the sole authority to interpret the film, and the meaning of the film is given by the film critic to a certain extent, not the director.

As far as this film is concerned, there are many motifs that can be talked about, but the interpretation of the film must first be based on the premise of the audience's aesthetic consciousness. What is Aesthetic Consciousness? Personally, I think it is the ability of the viewer to consciously find and explore the aesthetic value of the work without knowing the creator. As far as Angelopoulos' films are concerned, soundtracks, long takes, and dramatic performances should be the focus of the audience's aesthetic consciousness. Only on the premise of appreciating the characteristics of these films can the viewer insist on watching the film and then enjoy the entire viewing process, and the in-depth exploration of the connotation of the film is the next stage.

The film has a prominent Anzhe label and a label of Elaine (the film's composer), which can be used as an introductory film to understand Anzhe. Personally, I like the composer Elaine Calandro, who I have worked with for a long time, and her work is often featured on radio shows.
