Great compassion, great love is invisible - the cruel coming-of-age ceremony in the mist

Seven were banging on the stage, then turned into three. Then the curtain was drawn, and when the man on the accordion played the prelude, that's when I took the stage (written on the front)

Just like in every season when the catkins are flying, it will remind people of the small town of Amakod, where the catkins are flying under the lens of Federico Fellini when spring comes, in every foggy season, there will always be It makes people inadvertently recall Angelopoulos' "Landscape in the Fog": a girl is holding the hand of a little boy, the girl's name is Ula, 12 years old; the boy's name is Alexander, 5 years old. The two bravely embarked on a train to a distant place, with longing and the fervent hope for the longing and a little fear of the unknown...
There is a sentence in "The Tao Te Ching" that explains the ancient concept of aesthetics It is called "the sound of the great sound, the sound of the elephant," which means that the biggest and most beautiful sound is the silent sound, and the scene of the highest beauty often appears in the ethereal.

And in Angelopoulos' "Landscape in the Fog," you see a little girl sitting alone somewhere silent after being injured by a truck driver, with bright red blood dripping from her legs It slowly flows down, and everything happens in silence. This silent pain can be described as "great sorrow and silence" by using the allusions of "Tao Te Ching"...
The real grief is silence . of. "After a woman lost her child at the train station, she screamed hoarsely and lowly with a face that was almost twisted"... 20 years ago, the author witnessed such a tragic scene, and since that year Since then, I will never forget the grief-stricken person.
At the same time, the love hidden in the mists that exudes in the gloomy and silent film, whether it is the affectionate love of brother Alexander for his sister Ulla, or the love between her sister Ulla and the circus actor Oreste, both come from It is invisible, and this is exactly the "intangible love" expressed here. True love is something that can support a person to survive bravely through the most intangible spirit after giving up material things...
True love, whether it is family love or love between men and women, is also invisible. In this world, we may be too impetuous, and we long for the so-called return after a little bit of effort. Everyone seems to be floating in the midst of life and death, claiming to have fun in time, but never has the courage to calm down and listen slowly. However, when you can really calm down, even if you are in the fog and can't see anything, you can still see everything through your mind. There is the true meaning of life in all of this. Of course, Contains love.

Back to the movie "Landscape in the Fog".
Talking about this movie, one has to admire the soundtrack of this movie. All the soundtracks of the film are by Helen Calandro, the composer of director Angelopoulos. When watching this movie, whenever the music is played, you can't help but sigh, the metaphor that "music is to the movie is like the soul to the body" is so appropriate. When the music and the film are integrated, the audience can truly be separated from the music and concentrate more on the image charm of the film itself. This should be the highest level that the film soundtrack should reach.
The film unfolds slowly on a soothing "Adagio" ( adagio movement) background music. And "Adagio" has another meaning in English, which refers to the slow movements of the female horns to maintain a difficult balance in the ballet of two men and women. This is really a soundtrack that is perfect both melody and allegory. During the journey of the two brothers and sisters who left their father privately and went to Germany to find their "non-existent father", sister Ulla's experience was as if they had to complete difficult slow-motion ballerinas. The dance on the top is beautiful, but it also hurts in an instant. Then, the soundtrack fades, and the plot unfolds slowly in a tragic atmosphere. We learn that the father the siblings are so desperately looking for is really just a lie told by their mother to cover up the fact that the two were illegitimate. However, the stubborn sister Ulla still couldn't believe this set of rhetoric, so one day, Ulla still took the hand of her younger brother Alexander and embarked on the road of no return to find her father.

The search process is full of difficulties. Shortly after the penniless siblings got on the train secretly, they were discovered by the ticket inspector and driven off the train. It was this encounter that made the siblings encounter the first key thing in their journey - a dying horse. That may be the first time the siblings have witnessed death. When the elder sister whispered to the younger brother "it is dead", the silent younger brother Alexander finally cried, and the process of growing up is always accompanied by abandonment. While this kind of abandonment brings us great pain, its significance is also to teach us how to become calm in the more abandonment in life.
The plot continues. The siblings set off again for Germany. It was during this journey that the siblings met someone who would bring great meaning to their lives - circus actor Oreste. In this episode of the plot, there is a dialogue that stands out to me. After the siblings got into the circus actor's truck, the curious boy Alexander asked the circus actor Oresti:
"What do you do? What?"
Oreste replied with a smile: "I'm in charge of making people laugh or cry. You know how hard that is?" Good movie dialogues often do not need gorgeous rhetoric, but entirely on the creation of the atmosphere of the scene and the interaction of the interlocutors.

"I'm in charge of making people laugh out loud, or burst into tears." The kind-hearted circus actor Oreste lived up to this promise not only on his stage, but also in his subsequent interactions with his siblings. He used his humor and wit to make the siblings smile knowingly from the journey of Laughton, and then embraced them again with love when they were in trouble, making them moved to tears. During this journey, the sister and brother were finally able to temporarily let go of their burdens and bask in the morning dew of love and joy wholeheartedly.
Misfortune always comes unexpectedly. When the siblings bid farewell to the circus performers with joy, and then regained their confidence to embark on a journey to find their father in Germany, they met a person who would leave a deep shadow in the lives of the siblings - a truck driver. The unsuspecting siblings thought the truck driver would be as helpful as a circus performer. Who knows, this is a completely wrong decision. In the movie, we see my sister being dragged into the car by the truck driver. At this time, the car is completely dark, and at the same time, the background music of the movie plays completely obscures the sound in the car. As a result, sin was exercised in a place where no one could see and hear... The younger brother Alexander, who was sitting in the cab, seemed to sense something, and ran out to call out his sister's name. Couldn't climb into the car... Finally, the panicked truck driver abandoned the car and left, and sister Ula slowly reappeared from the dark car. She sat silently on the edge of the car, silent, the bright red blood slowly from her legs...it's one of the most desperate scenes in the movie. The so-called violent scenes can be seen in many movies, and the reason why Angelopoulos' "Landscape in the Fog" also describes the violence is remembered, I think here Angelopoulos takes " The filming technique of "Hidden Evil" is indispensable. In the movie screen, we can't see the scene of the truck driver doing evil at all, but only the lonely look of the little girl after that. Far from undermining the image of the truck driver's sin, this unique setup made this evil even more hated because of its deliberate "hiding".

A painful experience brought my sister more uncertainty about her life. At this time, the older sister Ula is no longer holding her brother's hand with confidence as she did at the beginning of the movie. She became suspicious.
The two siblings set off again, and by fate, they actually met the enthusiastic circus actor again. And the elder sister who just experienced suffering, the one who raised doubts about life, gradually understood that perhaps only by looking for someone like a circus performer to rely on, can the unexpected suffering be avoided. So, when the siblings met Oreste again, the elder sister finally expressed her love to him, intentionally or unintentionally. However, it was also fate. Sister Ulla discovered the secret that the circus performers were gay. This may be a joke of God, but for Ulla, it is a bolt from the blue...

However, the fire of hope that supported the siblings did not go out. They still have a "father", and that "non-existent father" will be their last straw. But how can a non-existent father be found? We thought the movie would end in a utterly hopeless way, but we didn't expect that Angelopoulos, the Christian director, wanted to save them.
In the end, it was the younger brother Alexander who saved the two siblings. The hardships along the way and the good and bad encounters made her sister Ulla begin to doubt her life, but at the same time, the 5-year-old boy gradually grew up. The sister and brother traveled long distances and rowed a small boat across the border to Germany, where they dreamed. At this time, there was a thick fog. The elder sister said to the younger brother: I am so scared. The younger brother Alexander said:
"Don't be afraid, I will tell you a story. The story begins with darkness, and then the light appears..." When Alexander finished this sentence, a miraculous sign appeared: the thick fog gradually dissipated , In the distance, the sun is shining, and a big tree symbolizing hope appears in front of them.
At this point, we realize that the story my brother just told is exactly the story my sister told when she comforted her brother at the beginning of the movie. Now, the younger brother Alexander has to shoulder the burden of protecting his sister, and continue to look for the "non-existent father" in Germany with his sister. The movie ends right at this point.
A cruel bar mitzvah in the mist. It turns out that even in the interweaving of good and evil, we can grow up like two brothers and sisters enduring tears. Director Angelopoulos is merciful, he finally makes the boy incarnate as a messenger of God, redeeming the boy himself and his sister...

When you see a child walking towards a huge door. Then, when the child walked to the giant gate, the gate slowly opened. The child walked in slowly. In ten or twenty years, when the door opens again, what kind of person will you expect to return from behind that giant door?
