Alexander McQueen: Floating Like a Show
Ian Bonholt / Pete Edger
We call them geniuses. I used to think that a genius is someone who is born smart and understands things. But when I saw that many geniuses decided to leave, I couldn't help but feel sad. He knew a lot, but left early. What drives them to make extreme decisions? After watching McQueen, I seem to have some speculation. McQueen is a fashion darling and an artistic genius. I saw stronger emotions than ordinary people in him. This emotion is not only for clothes, but also for friends and relatives around him, and even for the world. They like to express their emotions, in their own way. In McQueen's case, it's through his designs. McQueen said in the film: Fashion shows and living work are two different things. When dealing with your own show, you must express yourself, while finding a different owner is just a job to make ends meet. There is also a sentence in the film: genius and madness. Geniuses often show us crazy sides, which may surprise us or make us sad. But this is the commonality of many geniuses. They are more sensitive than ordinary people, their emotions are stronger than ordinary people, and their expressions are often high and low. Even if we show them respect and empathy, that doesn't mean we understand them. And this kind of loneliness is often faced by geniuses. Perhaps the warmth given by friends and mothers is McQueen's only solace, so when Blow and his mother left one after another, he no longer misses this world. It's strong because of the love, and for McQueen it's fashion, for us it's McQueen.
