As for satisfying a thousand desires, or conquering one...how to choose?
If you really want to be free,
Neither satisfying desires nor conquering desires...
But to understand desire thoroughly!
It must be a thorough understanding: understand why it is so cool when it is so cool, and understand why it is so painful when it is so painful? Thoroughly understand in a thorough experience, until you understand what is complete? what is love? What is the ultimate truth of the self? Note, must be final. Then, the satisfaction or dissatisfaction of desires, victory or non-conqueror, is no longer important.
Because satisfying desire is desire, and conquering desire is also desire. It is impossible to bring clarity and insight with the desire to overcome desire. In true self-nature, desires can come or go, and desires can be satisfied or not. It doesn’t matter how you do them. To be at the very source of desire, to watch desire come and see desire go, is the effective way to liberation.
