In the movie "October Siege", the righteous people protect Sun Yat-sen (Zhang Hanyu), not many of them are for Sun Yat-sen, and many people don't even know the danger of this trip. I guess some people may even have the regret of getting on the thief boat .
Let's see, Fang Hong (Li Yuchun) is to fulfill his father's last wish, for revenge. Shen Zhongyang (Donnie Yen) is because he owes his wife and daughter too much, and in order to ensure a happy life for her daughter in the future. Wang Fuming (Battle) is because he respects Li Yutang (Wang Xueqi), and Ah Si (Nicholas Tse) is to repay Li Yutang's kindness. He doesn't know the danger at all, and he is confident that he can come back and marry his true love. Liu Yubai (Dawn) also wanted to repay Li Yutang for calling a disgraced beggar the title of "Liu Gongzi", and to redeem the favor of Tie Fan, a treasure that was handed down to the family. From the sentence "Is it worth it for the sake of tomorrow?", we can see that he doesn't know, doesn't want to know, and doesn't care who Li Yutang wants him to protect tomorrow, how dangerous, and what's the meaning, but this person is Boss Li asked him to protect him, and he would go through fire and water without hesitation. None of them knew Sun Yat-sen, nor did they know his ambitions and ideals, they were just doing things in line with their own values. Even Li Yutang didn't really understand the meaning of this trip. He encouraged the publishing workers to publicize that Sun Yat-sen came to Hong Kong just to recite what Chen Shaobai (Leung Ka Fai) said to him. Perhaps only Chen Shaobai and Li Chongguang (Wang Bojie) really understand the meaning.
The profound teachings, not many ordinary people can understand. They are willing to sacrifice, in many cases because of their trust in people and their longing for future life.
This movie also reminded me of two texts I learned in elementary school, and when I rewatched them in recent years, I actually understood the charm of them. One is "Lamp", an ambush battle, in order to let the comrades see the enemy's hiding place, a soldier lit the fire, and the enemy was swept into a hornet's nest, of course, the comrades won. The soldier's vision is that "after the victory of the revolution, our next generation can learn under bright lights", and this vision made him smile happily in his life in the war. Years later, the author recalled this old comrade-in-arms under the lanterns of Tiananmen, and could not help but burst into tears. One is "Monument", under the ice and snow, the head of the logistics department gave all the coats to the soldiers, but he froze to death in the cold wind. The last paragraph of the text seems to be "If victory does not belong to such an army, to whom does it belong".
Even now, when I think of these two texts, I am still deeply moved. That's why I agree that "history is created by the people" (I used to think that history was created by heroes). Without the sacrifices of the people, there would be no new China today. Perhaps it is precisely because of the awareness of the greatness of the people that "October Siege" is more about the portrayal of small characters, and the role of Sun Yat-sen is almost a supporting role in the supporting roles. And I like "October Siege", I was deeply moved by it, but also because of the strong humanistic care spirit in this film.
It is precisely because of this strong humanistic concern that there are many scenes in the movie that make people cry. What impressed me the most was that the gambler Chongyang caught up with the speeding rickshaw and stared blankly at his daughter—he just found out that he had a daughter. Before that, in the eyes of others and himself, he was a waste, addicted to gambling, his wife ran away with others, and nothing was accomplished... However, he actually had a lovely daughter, who was as pure as the white snow on the Tianshan Mountains. She is as happy as the princess of the kingdom! There was perhaps only one thing to be proud of in his decadent, unremarkable life, and that was his daughter. In his eyes, there are very complex emotions-excitement, surprise, remorse... It's like a dead person suddenly coming back to life, that's when he sees hope and sees that his daughter can live an unprecedented life of good life.
There's one more scene that's unforgettable. At the age of 17, Wang Chongguang drew lots to become Sun Yat-sen's stand-in. Finally, when he faced the pursuit of Yan Xiaoguo, the leader of the killer, the expression on his face changed. From the cold sweat and panic at the beginning, to the premonition that Sun Yat-sen has successfully left Hong Kong, as if he saw the bright future of the new China, he suddenly showed a satisfied smile and regarded death as home. This young man with the world in mind, this young man who "as long as he closes his eyes, is full of China's tomorrow", completed his life's mission in one hour, and died without regret.
Some people say that he sees no high housing prices in China tomorrow. But so what? ——As the years go by, almost everyone will find the huge gap between reality and ideals, and almost every fifty-year-old will laugh at the recklessness and ignorance of twenty-year-olds. But if you've never been reckless, how have you ever been young?
Every person who sacrifices for a good faith, regardless of the final result, is worthy of our respect. I even envy them. Because they have an ideal worth their lives, and I almost never find a cause that makes me feel significant.
