1. "Dragon Gate Flying Armor" cannot replicate the style of "New Dragon Gate Inn", and can be watched as another martial arts movie rather than a sequel. Although the old monster has repeatedly wanted to link the two films together, I personally think that it is not necessary. If two points can be achieved, maybe the current rating of the "Dragon" film will be much higher.
2. "Dragon Gate Flying Armor" has made a qualitative breakthrough in technology and effect realization. I believe that the old monster has basically fulfilled his 3D martial arts dream and made the rivers and lakes that only exist in the mist more concrete.
3. Although the plot of "Flying Armor of Dragon Gate" is weak, the story is complete. It belongs to the basic pass and can even reach the original plot of the middle and upper levels. There are conflicts, ups and downs, and laughs. There are good reasons for fighting, and the characters are compared Obviously, it's just that the casting is not perfect. Except for Chen Kun's acting skills, the other roles are slightly regrettable, especially Li Yuchun, who can be so mediocre in men's clothing.
4. The art and scenery of "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate" are perfect. Of course, there are some familiar shadows, such as Reed Taipa and the small ferry boat. It's hard not to think of the scene where Zhu Yin appeared in "Journey to the West", but among the clouds, fog, landscape, Deserts, Crows and Tornadoes are all done with care. I especially liked the scene where Zhou Xun and Fan Xiaoxuan were talking on the barren hills in the desert, they could freeze the moment.
5. "Dragon Gate Flying Armor" is like Tsui Hark's own plaything, and some say he made it for Shi Nansheng. Anyway, a film with a strong director's own style is difficult to be titled "Ear". "Or the "ugly" title, if there is one, it's really unfair. This style has continued since the era of "Swordsman", and even if it has changed, it is still the same. The consistent and elegant action design in the film, the consistent beauty of the characters' costumes, the lonely and rebellious characteristics of the heroes in the rivers and lakes, and the blurring of the characters' living environment are all the old monsters' forte. I don't know if many people think that this film ruined the previous "New Dragon Inn" because the technology makes the old feeling no longer exist, or they want to lament that Tsui Hark betrayed the martial arts film? If it's the latter, then I'll be pissed off for the boss.
All in all, Tsui Hark fulfilled a dream of his own, which may not have been satisfactory, and may have lived up to the expectations of some people, but we should see this director who has come all the way from the new wave, his uncompromising, his passion, His desires require a new and changeable personal style.
In his bones, Old Monster Xu has not changed, he is still so weird. This is his failure, this is his greatness.
