Maybe it's because I've watched a lot of zombie movies recently, but the whole storyline makes me think it's a normal development without too many highlights. The only thing that shocked me was the scene where the heroine's father had his legs chopped off and his hands cut off to prevent suicide, which evoked me scrutinizing the dark images of the film.
