No matter how many times I watch this movie, I like and recognize Yang Tianbai's settings very much.
I don't think a simple Oedipus plot can explain Tianbai's reaction.
First of all, why didn't Tianbai call Dad so late? It was because he didn't know who to call his father.
Who is the half-paralyzed old man sleeping beside him? Who is Tian Qing? Mother said it should be called Tianqing Daddy, but it seems that it can only be called Daddy in the courtyard. Outside the courtyard, the old man should be called Daddy, and Tianqing should be called Brother.
Tian Tian Judou and Tian Qing have always been in the relationship of uncle and aunt outside the compound, and they look polite and not arrogant. The neighbors outside also said that Tian Qing was the elder brother and Yang Jinshan was the father.
Yang Tianbai was puzzled in his heart. So many people outside said that Yang Jinshan was his father, and his mother never refused. He thought it should be called Yang Jinshan's father. But his mother asked him to call Yang Tianqing his father when no one was there. So, he was extremely confused and simply stopped calling.
Although children do not understand the affairs of men and women of adults, they can feel the subtleties in it.

So when Tianbai found out that his mother and Tianqing broke into the grass again, he went home silently to play. Seeing Yang Tianjin approaching without the "supervision" of the two, he called Dad directly. Because my mother wasn't there, I wouldn't be scolded when I called Jin Shan's father in the courtyard.
Yang Jinshan was very happy when he heard the call, and let Tianbai pull the rope and shout loudly in and out of the street. Here Tianbai is very cooperative and keeps calling. Why? Because he felt a real sense of belonging. He's not dumb, he screams crisply. He is willing to call out Yang Jinshan's father, Yang Tianqing brother, he uses his instinct to heighten who is the father and who is the brother.
The following third birthday and sitting on Yang Jinshan's coffin continued to reinforce the fact that Yang Tianbai was Yang Jinshan's son. And according to the Yang family's rules, Tian Qing moved out, which further proved that Tian Qing was an outsider in the family.
As he grew older, Tianbai became more sensible, but there were still rumors about the relationship between Judou and Tianqing in the neighborhood. Tian Bai felt very ashamed.
Hearing people chatting about their mother's affairs on the street, Tian Bai was naturally angry. When we saw him, he was already carrying a knife, and the runners knew what was going on and ran away. Explain that Tianbai understands all this very well.
The Oedipus plot was originally about killing a father and marrying a mother, and was used where there was an Oedipus plot. For me, I prefer to understand that it is not Tianbai killing Tianqing driven by Oedipus, but Tianbai taking the initiative to end it all because of the condemnation of "moral degeneration". Because of the existence of Tianqing, he will always carry the label of "child born from an affair". His mother would also be constantly talked about by the townspeople. He also couldn't stand his mother hanging out with someone other than his father. Only by pushing Yang Tianqing into the water, he might be like his father and never wake up again.
