drunk beauty

The first time I learned about this group was through this documentary.
This is a documentary that made me wonder if I should watch it with my eyes open or listen with my eyes closed. The clarity of the film is very high, the Icelandic scenery is beautiful, and the music of Sigur Ros is very special. If I open my eyes, I will be intoxicated by the beautiful natural scenery, but I will miss the good time to appreciate music; if I close my eyes, I will be immersed in the beautiful creation, but I will miss the beauty of feeling the nature. Everything, in the busy urban life, is so different and so natural.
I have always liked Northern Europe. At first, it was because of the yearning for Danish fairy tales, and then the temptation for the beautiful scenery, and then it evolved into the pursuit of freedom. In my mind, Northern Europe is a mysterious land, not as ambitious as America, nor as brutal and shameless as Japan, nor as busy and romantic as France. In the era of all kinds of news, Northern Europe is so silent, as if forgotten, and rarely mentioned by people.
It is such a piece of land that so much beauty has been brewed invisibly. Fairy tales like Denmark, music like Iceland, and beauty like Norway. It's like an old ballad, rich in content, sloppy in expression but still in fusion.
Sigur Ros is such a typical combination, it has all the characteristics of northern Europe: mysterious, ancient, free, independent... Their music is so unique: distant, beautiful, classical, rock... .
For them, rock is just a manifestation of emotional outbursts, a voice from the bottom of the heart, not just rock for rock's sake.
There are many soul singers, Adele, Enya, Tanya and so on. But like Sigur Ros, a singer who has mixed so many musical elements, held so many performances, and used his own power to protect something that is about to disappear can be regarded as unique.
It has always been thought that the world is lagging behind in progress. We have invented a lot of high-tech things, and we are worried about the pollution it brings; we have created so-called fast food, but we are worried about its impact on the health of the body; we have innovated all kinds of chat software. The relationship with people seems to be getting farther and farther. Some traditional and beautiful things have been lost in the rhythm of people's life. If in the future, the sky is no longer blue, the sea is no longer clear, and the sun is no longer warm, I can't imagine what kind of life I would have lived at that time.
Sigur Ros brought us so many inspirations, washed our souls, and enabled us to be fascinated by the utopia they created. "You don't know you're singing. It's totally empty headed, you're just floating there." It is because they are at the highest level of this kind of musical singing that we have the opportunity to "feast our ears".
What is life? No one know it clear. Everyone defines it differently and it means different to everyone. I remember my mother's evaluation of Northern Europe after she came back from a trip to Northern Europe: "The people there are too lazy, they almost stop working from noon." I can only laugh helplessly at my mother's evaluation. I don't know if they are too lazy or if we are too hardworking. In my definition, many people know how to "live" life and how to make life better, but few people know how to "enjoy" life like the Nordics. They are more relaxed and more secure than we are. That's probably why Sigur Ros' music resonates, they compose for enjoyment and sing for soul.
Sigur Ros is proud, "Just the more we travel the more you appreciate the world and Iceland, as well, to travel the whole world and then come back here. Wow!" "It's kind of a safe haven for us. Iceland. "Indeed, there are not many countries in the world as beautiful as Iceland.
Sigur Ros is a tacit understanding, "There is this kind of...like a mood you get into, You know, together, doing the same thing. A really nice feeling." We also have the same feeling in life. The reason why the high school entrance examination is unforgettable, It's because it's rare for everyone to fight for the same goal together in the future. When the goals are the same, the tacit understanding is self-evident.
"Heima" is the product of the perfect combination of Icelandic music and nature. It has the strength to be promoted as a tourism promotional film in Iceland. In this seemingly simple documentary, there are too many treasures.
Sigur Ros, from the members to the music, is too complicated, and has a "leftover and independent" attitude. The writing is so pale and thin in Sigur Ros, which incorporates many good things. All the beautiful words in the world together seem to be unable to describe this combination and the enjoyment and emotion they bring to this flashy society.
Sigur Ros has long ceased to be the name of a group, but a symbol of a culture of glamour.
Love their music and don't worry if their songs have endings.
Because good music never ends.

Sigur Rós: Heima quotes

  • Band member: It's kind of a safe haven for us, Iceland. We are left on our own here.

  • Jon Thor Birgisson: I think Kjarri's grandmother, she went to the concert and thought it was really loud, and then heard it was on TV, too. Like, "It was on the TV! Let's go home! If it's on TV, let's go home and watch it on TV." Then it was the end of the last song and these crazy backdrops and stuff, like really intense. Then she thought something was wrong with her TV and shut it off. I think it's nice.
