In September 1940, the Nazi German army launched a lightning attack on Denmark and Norway. With the disparity of national strength and unpreparedness, within four hours, King Christian X of Denmark announced that the whole country of Denmark should surrender to the Nazis. At about the same time, the capital of Norway Oslo was captured when the German army lost only 50 soldiers. The Norwegian government was pessimistic, and the wave of surrender prevailed. Haakon VII, the first elected king of Norway who had been indifferent to politics in his nearly 70 years, intervened for the first time. The government decided to refuse to surrender. Although Norway is only a small country, it is also an independent, democratic and free country. Inspired by the courage of Haakon VII, Baidu Encyclopedia wrote the entry "Haakon VII", and only one of his achievements was listed in the evaluation: he established diplomatic relations with China on October 5, 1954.
