Life, indulgence!

Before, I often saw skateboarders in the neighborhood, which gave people a cool feeling. Especially in foreign countries, while envious of foreigners' casual, unrestrained, free and easy, I also secretly think about when I became the person who followed the rules. But when walking in bad neighborhoods, many people shy away from those skateboarding teenagers, and some people have a prejudice against them, thinking that they are not doing their jobs properly. The film's director, Liu Bing, focused the camera on those skateboarders who share his interests. Understand how there is an unknown side behind the seemingly casual and free and easy.

Everyone has troubles, whether at home or abroad, in any family, or in any neighborhood, they will have their own troubles. Especially in today's increasing number of family problems, violence bears the brunt of the problem, leaving indelible pain on both victims and children. When individualism and family responsibilities go hand in hand, many people avoid problems and hide everywhere. Survival issues, family issues, what to do next, right or wrong in this matter, it seems that every choice will determine whether the next moment is good or bad. It's really tiring... A poet once said that people have exhausted all their efforts to live. Yes, who doesn't have problems every day and live every day. Crying and laughing, the good years are long gone. Sometimes I don't know what I live for, to achieve myself, or to let my parents who have criticized me affirm my achievements and prove that I have not lived in vain and my life has not been wasted.

After watching this documentary, I found that many troubles are familiar. This is a real life, and everyone is so real. Suddenly I find that I have dig too little of the examples around me, or I have shot too little, so the story is not touching, and it will not resonate. Is it because a lot of people around me have used tricks to disguise themselves as normal people, with a bright future and no worries, so I didn't let me discover their extraordinary and cuteness?

Minding the Gap quotes

  • Keire Johnson: I feel like life might be moving too fast.

Zack Mulligan: We have to fully grow up and it's gonna fucking suck.

  • Keire Johnson: It would kind of be like a drug in a way. Like, I can seriously be on the verge of having a fucking mental breakdown, but as long as I'm able to go skate then I'm completely fine.
