I just watched the BBC documentary "Pompeii: The Last Day", and then watched this movie, and the combination of the two gained more. The documentary mainly tells the story of the eruption of the volcano, the state of the volcano at different times, and how the destruction was caused step by step. It presents the scene with a few excavated human figures to restore the main story line. This movie is based on a love as the main line, similar to the shooting method of "Pearl Harbor". Although there are common heroes in disaster movies that are not practical to save the beauty, but on the contrary, it is more beautiful and romantic, isn't it? What's more, there is the handsome hero of "Quan You" that we are familiar with to help out. Compared with the documentary, this film has two best results: First, it more vividly reflects the prosperity of Pompeii as a metropolis at that time. This feeling is similar to watching the movie "White Deer Plain" after reading the book. The most direct way is to feast your eyes and ears, pictures of local customs and folk songs. This movie is full of crowds and full of life, especially the crowds of the Colosseum and aerial photography and the brightness of the night. There are more extras, and the picture feels to restore the ancient city more real, but the eruption process of its volcano, you still have to refer to the documentary. Second, the time is longer, so the background interpretation is more adequate. Compared with the living conditions of the British capital of the same time, it is not difficult to see that if Rome is located in Beijing today, then the location of Pompeii should be similar to Shanghai and Shenzhen.
